Datel to debut Xbox 360 memory card reader
Maxconsole has the
scoop on a forthcoming Xbox 360 transfer kit from Datel that
hooks up to your PC via USB and allows you to read memory cards from the system. The included Xchange 360 software
merely does the backup thing, but software like Xplorer360 and wxTheme can jump in to help access, share, and edit the
saved games and themes that reside on the card. No word on when this reader will be available, but hopefully we'll be
seeing a lot more out of this $15 device.

What I'd really like to see is a converter that allows you to take Xbox saves and convert them to the 360's format so you can use your old Xbox saved games while playing them on your 360.

i'm with you on that Jake..datel is good at making devices to help us crack out systems..what a pain in the bum to beat splinter cell(s) all over again on my 360 when i coulda just transferred the saves..
i think i have it figured out for when the ps3 comes out, cause u know there won't be a device like that..so i bet u can use datel's USB thumbdrive, transfer ur game saves from your memory card on it, then transfer them to your pc or onto a memory stick duo (since that'll be one of the memory choices for the PS3) then bamn! hehe ps2 game saves on ps3 hehe i hope =]

I didn't think there would be any type of devices like this for at least a year. Man these guys are fast to hack.

Go to www.360gamesaves.com and check out the forums and Xplorer360 Software. Transfering your Xbox 1 saves to your 360 and sharing 360 saves is possible right now!

Great. Hacked xbox live anyone?
Osiris @ Feb 22nd 2006 8:09PM
Uh yeah alright Eric, how do you think they manage to keep Halo2 hack free.
Theres no risk to XBLive.
The good thing about this is that because its gonna be a commercial product, MS mightn't be able to fix the ability to access the memory card/hd via updates.
I plan on transferring my Halo 2 saves onto my 360 HD tmrw.

Wow. Best. Halo 2 joke. Ever. Anyone who's played Halo 2 on Xbox Live for any reasonable amount of time is well aware of the fact that many people have used Action Replay to alter downloaded maps on their computer and then transfer them back to their Xbox so that they may cheat away on Live. Of course, Bungie bans them fairly quickly, but it is still definitely present even now. By no means is Halo 2 hack-free. With this new product, Xbox Live itself and the games on discs shouldn't be in danger, but any game that relies on downloaded maps may be in danger of being "hacked." If someone were to play with these maps online, it would be very similar to what happened with Halo 2. Xbox Live will still be good, but there will certainly be more headaches as a direct result of this device.

Could have been expected from Datel. They always try to capitalize on others popularity.

Looks like a bargain at $15. I can't wait to use it...

I think, from what ive read, that the Xchange 360 software is based on the Xplorer 360 software, and that because of this, you will not need to use Xplorer 360 to do anything, I'm sure datel only showed an early version, with no more than a backup device to show it works, and that it can read the security chipped memory card of the 360
MAlone @ Mar 3rd 2006 6:42PM
Can't you just transfer gamesaves to a USB pen drive using a Xbox controller port to USB adapter & then copy these on to 360 or is the 360's data format different from the old Xbox?
Scott Krueger @ Jul 18th 2006 9:39PM
PS3 hopefully will come with a solution to read PS2 saves. The PS2 could read the PS1 Saves, so I would Imagine that Sony would include this to Complete their Backwards Compatability Goal.
Microsoft on the other hand only hires nerds with Masters Degrees who were in the Science Club.
All of us Real Programmers would be able to figure out how to make the 360 Backwards compatible.
The XBox1 Card has the Same Pin layout as the 360...
Why are they not compatible...
Because Microsoft wanted it that way!
Think about it. The XBox is a basically a PC, so is the 360...
If they didn't do it on purpose, then their employees are idiots!
All right I'm done Beotchin about my 360...
