Globalsat intros GH-601/GH-602 GPS wristwatch
Globalsat has
just introduced the Globalsat GH-601/602, a fully-sealed, waterproof wrist-watch with GPS intended for use with
outdoors-sports like jogging, biking and skiing. The watch is powered by the SiRFStar III high performance GPS
chipset, which should allow for position fixing even with a weak signal status. The GH-602 adds an electronic compass
and barometric altimeter. Both models can also be used as a GPS receiver with its USB inteface and pack a built-in
rechargeable high capacity lithium-ion battery which Globalsat says'll give you 16 hours of use with the GPS on and
compass and altimeter turned off or 70 hours with all three turned off. And if day glow green isn't your color, you can
also choose from equally sporty red or yellow watches.[Via Geekzone]

I have the similar Garmin Forerunner 201. It's a bit big to wear on my wrist, but it's great mounted to the handlebars of my mountain bike. And the Garmin uses GPS to calculate altitude.

Just a heads up, this was "just introduced" a few months ago. ;) Still worthy of mention though!

Its been said but garmin makes practically the same thing, they also make the 305 which wasn't mentioned, that one is the coolest, and they are past the ugly box design. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CSWCQA/sr=8-11/qid=1140659724/ref=sr_1_11/103-6812495-7718254?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Looks indeed like the garmin foretrex 201. A lot of windsurfers are using these devices to measure their speed and analyse the windsurfsession. More info on http://www.gps-speedsurfing.com

Size!? Granted, the 201 and 301 are a tad bulky but, these haven't been mentioned yet:

Someone else mentioned the "ugly box design" of the globalsat, if you think the 301 is cool, gotta check these out.

mattpace: from what I've read, the Suunto's pretty crappy. I think they're close to introducing a replacement for it though, so hopefully we'll have another option that looks good and works well soon.

I use a forerunner 201 and grab all my run data to overlay into Google Maps (double true). Also Google Earth (triple?)... Have a Suunto Observer for climbing - good product but I hear what n8 stated. looking forward to what they come up with next.
also use a polaris hrm sometimes. not necessary with the newer garmins but i figure the more crap i run with the more prepared i'll be for the coming apocolypse.
