Ricoh Caplio R4 and RR630 announced
As usual, Ricoh's digital cameras are aimed a slightly more particular
audience than your general compact digital cameras, but anyone interested in a machine with a 6 megapixel sensor, 7.1
optical zoom (seriously), 2.5-inch display, and optical image stabilization should take a look at Ricoh's new
£249 ($435 US) Caplio R4; anyone looking for something slightly more budgetastic should peep Ricoh's £129
($261 US) RR630, which itself has a 6 megapixel sensor, 3x zoom, 2-inch screen, and takes AA cells.

Hot! I want that 7x zoom, assuming it collapses to something thin (it looks like it does).
"caplio" reminds me of "cappio", which was i believe the first mass-production canned coffee drink. i still remember the cappio ads. will i remember these ricoh caplios similarly in 15 years? only time will tell.
talk about stabilization, you need a tripod just to handle the fallax--uh, er, lense.
QUESTION: What is the best ULTRA compact camera out there with at least 3x optical zoom and 4+ megapixels?
I vote for Casio Exilim EX-S600.
What do you think?
Why don't they sell these in the USA? :(
Because no one likes you!
Oh, THAT'S discrete looking!
