Sony's Cybershot DSC-W70 and DSC-W100
So PMA's getting
underway tomorrow, and the first volley of releases are out, including Sony's new Cybershot DSC-W70 and DSC-W100,
featuring 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch display, 58MB and 64MB of internal memory, and 7.2 and 8.1 megapixel CCD sensors,
respectively. So yeah, basically like we'd heard.
They'll both appear in April, expect them to run you $300 and $350.

First time I hear a camera described as "suckas" ... :/

Canon has better quality but breaks fast. Sony has average quality but last longer.

I am curious to know the real difference between these and the N1 from Sony other than the touch screen - if any.

sony dsc w100 - i live in UK and don't think Sony will be selling the w100 in black finish in uk - who knows why? anyway does anyone know any technical reason why i couldnt buy one from usa and use in uk - presumably teh battery charger wd be for a US plug socket but i could buy adapter? any advice appreciated
many thanks
Addsy @ Apr 9th 2006 11:11AM
mick i was wondering the same thing. i saw the black finish in the W100 and instantly fell in love!! i really hope the black finish comes out in the UK, if not i would get one from the US as long as i can use an adapter for the UK. Anyone with any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

hey addsy - i have checked with an electrician - you can buy a usa camera and simply replace the battery charger plug with a uk plug - only 2 wires as usa plugs have no earth. alternatively, buy a uk to usa power adapter on net approx 11 pounds. if you get a usa dealer to sell you one (i'm trying at moment - no luck - but perhaps when the model becomes widely available in usa in a few weeks it will be easier) would you let me know who the dealer is - i shall return the favour - cheers

i am really really really really stuck. my heart says sony dsc N1, because of its sheer beauty and elegance, but my head says w100, due to its high iso plus having a touch screen bares the risk of damage to the screen due continuous touching, and that could irritate me. but i still like the n1, and also the w100, so i'm really stuck!!!!!!

Is the any technical difrences between the w100 uk version and the usa one e.g. do they both have the 30 - 1/2000 adjustible shuter times as diffrent websites are giving difrent specs???
Adrian Waters @ May 20th 2006 7:59PM
I saw a couple of comments above re the non-availability of the W100 in the UK. I am still waiting for the black model. If it was available, I would buy it immediately. When I'm paying so much for a camera I feel I should at least have a choice of colours. Does anyone know of a reason why the UK is being deprived by Sony when the black version is available in several other countries (USA, Australia, Russia to name a few)?

guys,
If you wan the black color cam, just drop me an email, i got plenty sold in black in my country. Is about 225 pound with 512 Ram.

If the Sony DSC-W70 is available in black in the U.S., I'd be obliged to know where--the prices have come down nicely, but all of the e-tailers I've called only carry it in silver.
