Today SanDisk hit us with three separate capacity
boosting announcements. First, they doubled the capacity of their Extreme III Cards for professional digital
photographers. Available in March, the new cards include the Extreme III 8GB CompactFlash for $560, the $200 2GB SD,
and the 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for $420 green. The CF and SD cards both feature a minimum read/write speed of 20
MB/sec while the Memory Stick PRO Duo cards manage 19MB/sec minimum read and write speeds. Likewise, SanDisk also
announced a capacity doubling 2GB
SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus
Card (pictured) due in June for $135. Lastly, SanDisk announced their high-speed 4GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo
card available in March for $240. Thanks for the updates SanDisk, and more importantly we appreciate you not
introducing any new memory card formats on us.

It doesn't make sense that the Ultra version is significantly less expensive than the regular version.
Are they retarded? You can buy a 4GB SD card for $200 on newegg now. (Not to metion a 4GB iPod is 230 with discount.) Most of the current 2GB SD owners are using A-Data brand, becuase it came out so much sooner than Sandisk. If this is the price they want to go with, I am going to order an A-Data again.
the transfer speed is the primary difference.. the extreme (the $420 MS) is FASTER than the $240 version...
Those SD Plus cards (like the one pictured) will slot straight into USB ports without needing adapters.
I've got one in my Treo, and not having to carry an adapter around with me is great...
Engadget is wrong about "Lastly, SanDisk announced their high-speed 4GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo card available in March for $240". The site says "Ultra II Memory Stick PRO 4GB $239.99 (Due out in March)"
June now? These things were scheduled to come out in March and before that, January. The usb/sd cards sound like neat tech, but cmon now - these things are over 6 months behind schedule. What gives?
That's great, when can I expect to see 2gb and 4gb Transflash cards for my phone?
I've owned a SanDisk Cruzer Mini usb flash drive for over half a year now and have been very satisfied with it. Besides being 2.0HS, it's also very low profile, and does not block any adjacent USB ports, above, below, or beside it. There are some computers with the USB ports in odd positions that would completely prevent this hybrid design from even plugging in at all. (like on computers with recessed ports) And for $230 on eBay for 4gb, my old cruzer even beats this new model in price. I expected better avances from them after half a year than this. Where's my 8gb cruzer mini?
