Rapsody DMB combines DivX player with DMB receiver
The Rapsody (sic) DMB from Korea's Dacos Technology is one of those specialty products that will probably be a huge hit in a very small niche. Billed as the first DMB-enabled DivX player, it's essentially a very small DivX-based DVR for DMB broadcasts. It also supports most popular audio formats, and has a "virtual DVD" mode, which we assume means you can rip your DVDs to it for later playback. All it needs is a display, and it could compete with some of the DMB-based PMPs that are already turning up in Korea. But we guess that's not its niche.

DMB is like Europes and other countries form of our (americas) ATSC.

Korea is blanketed in DMB, over which many television stations are now broadcasting. Cell phones now have DMB, laptops are coming with DMB, there's even cameras that are have DMB receivers. DMB = television everywhere and in everything.
The Rapsody is a device you hook up to your computer, leech a bunch of video with it, then hook it up to your TV to watch. The writer's equivicating this with a PMP is odd, as we also have DMB PMPs--they're a whole other beast.

Why would anyone want a device that receives The Dave Mathews Band? If it was a reverse of this device and modified to transmit punches to Dave Mathews face i would buy it.

DMB has been in korea since december 05 and has been very succcessful,service providers usually give you free terestrial tv(dmb-t) in the hope you will use the pay per view (dmb-s)satelite service ,but at the moment they only have 1 sat,with no back up, not like other services.It is said that DMB will reach europe for the world cup 2006 (nice)but at what price ,the french seem to be leading the race.
In korea a large percentage of sales have come from in car sales, because these new age hddplayers have inbuilt DMB and also sat nav,which are also mobile devices.(WWW.DMBSTREAM.COM this is a content site for this service which will be available soon.
