We realize there's a market
(albeit a small one) for SD-based MP3 players, though we have to say we're not exactly surprised that most of the
companies making them have names like
Lexar and
SanDisk. Or Delkin, now that the company -- better known for its
e-Film media -- has launched its first MP3 player, the Revel. Unfortunately, Delkin seems to have missed the lesson
that SanDisk has learned, namely that to succeed in this niche, you've gotta make it either cheaper or better, and the
Revel -- a display-free player that goes for $109 with a 1GB SD card -- is neither (though if you've got a pile of SD
cards lying around and want to find something to do with them, you can always pick up the 256MB Revel for about $50).
Some no name memory mfg. now includes an ugly white brick with their SD 512MB that they sell at the Target. Maybe they should've followed that instead of charging extra $40 for the MP3...
Now that's what I'm talking about! Screw the shuffle when you can have a more expensive and uglier version that looks like an 80's pager! At least you wont have to worry about anyone stealing it.
I got a MyMusix, which is basically the same thing, except you can buy it without memory and WITH a screen, for $3.99 from Consumer Depot. It actually works, I was amazed. Anyone that would pay for this steaming pile deserves to have their pocket picked at every opportunity.

Bogus.
It's actually $4.99 but still pretty nice, getting a couple myself.

can you only buy one via consumer depot? I've tried adding 2 but it doesnt let me.
I wish the nano would add removable memory (CF or SD)
The JuiceBox is an SD based mp3 player - and it has a 2 inch color screen. They sell for $25 at KB Toys - and they come with a bunch of stuff (mostly useless stuff, but stuff none the less). I'd rather use that than the $100 thing.
