Sony expands Bravia S, V, X series LCD HDTVs
Gearing up for CeBIT, Sony has
announced some new additions to the Bravia series, including new models in sizes from 26 inches up through 46
inches. S-series models are HD-ready, with support for 1080i and 720p, and come with digital tuners and HDMI
input. For the V series, Sony claims a wider color gamut than most other LCD displays, and a 1300:1 contrast ratio. At
the top of the line is the X series (pictured), which supports 1080p and has dual HDMI inputs. Pricing has yet to be
announced.

Is it me, or has Sony finally gotten back their design sense?
This looks sweet. I just wish it wasnt so expensive.
How do you know what the price is? Did I miss something? And why did it take Sony this long to release a real 1080p TV?
forget the TV watch the 180 second commercial. One of the most amazing and beautiful things I've seen filmed. The soundtrack to it is a beautiful song as well.

That's an old commercial, but definitely very cool. The song is by Jose Gonzalez and it is called "Heartbeats". You can get it from itunes and I would reccomend doing it.
Shame the Bravia X only comes in 46".
I'm not buying an HDTV until someone releases an affordable 1080p 32/36" with dual HDMI CP inputs. Is that too much to ask for?
Wow, that's a serious case of dead/stuck pixels.
@Jas,
If it's priced anything like other SONY TV's expect it to be several hundred dollars more... making it too expensive. Love the Bravia line, but $3500 ($3200 if its on sale) for their 40" model is to much versus say the Westinghouse 37" for $1600. Which by btw, does have 1090p.
For a marketing gimmick, they should pack in the box one of the recovered rubber balls used in that oh-so-excellent commercial.
I am glad to see Sony is starting to offer a more visually appealing LCD. I am not sure the cost is worth it though.

I just bought a 40inch Bravia last week. :@/:[.
The X series pic looks nice, but if its "announced" now, probably gonna take 6-8 months to come out & probably a lil more to sell commonly.
Oh btw...my bro also got a 42inch Samsung "Rome". Pretty good looking (most like the Bravia though).
dint read anything abt it on Engadget !? :P
is it just my imagination or does Sony no longer even produce plasma tv's? there are none on the 'sony style' website anymore.
Nice to see that they have re-designed the teles. When I was looking at teles over the holidays all Sony models looked like shit.
I'm targeting a guess price of $12,000 for this X-Series model based on style and poor quality control and pass as top-grade quality! The only good thing besides the nice style is this might be still assemble in Japan which is A-OK in my book. All the other manufacturers from Japan, South Korea and Europe had flown south of the border assembling their North American market TVs at Chalupaland.
#1: Yes they are., well, at least with these X-series. kinda reminds me of their old XBR950 series "Floating Glass" theme bezel from 2003 which it wasn't glass but rather tinted ABS transparent plastic. still, it was nice at a premium {real glass} price.
#3: It took them long because Sony does not manufacture ANY TFT LCD panels, Samsung does., and until they didn't get them right you weren't going to see a 46" 1,080P display., The questions that fits here is; Would this unit be able to display thru 1,080P at 60 thru ALL inputs?
#6: Nope., the X-Series will also have a 82" LCD that was shown at CES 2006.
Dreaming doesn't cost anything, but sit back and enjoy a refreshment, because something like that might never be available.
#7: And with Sony's pixel policy, be sure to keep your receipt and all packing materials handy.
#8: Sony has prohibited the sale of their Bravia and SXRD XBRs over the internet leaving the consumer with the only option of getting them thru their local dealers making less of a chance to get them for a good price. Right here in the South we have a store named BrandsMart U*S*A* that tends to sell the Bravias XBR {26", 32" and 40"} for $301.12 less than MSRP. Back in January they had a 2-day private-by-invitation-only sale where they were selling the 40" for $2,498.88 and the 60" SXRD XBR for $3,498.88.
#12: They never manufacture their own plasmas, only assemble them from PDPs supplied by NEC and Hitachi., right now they are out of the consumer plasma business., they only have a 50" commercial monitor which use a Samsung SDI panel.
which is better? the v series or x series
Doesn't mention CableCard anywhere. I'm not finding many (if any) 2006 TVs with Cablecard. Why is Cablecard disappearing?
Would like dual HDMI with Cablecard. Will I find it?
I will tell why took sony so long to come up with 1080p TV.
the coool thing about sony is they never rush there product's to market.
plus they dont care about other comapneys if they realse there TV's first. They work hard and come up allways with the best at the END.They did the same think with PS3,and many other SONY products.Look at Panasonic and philips, they recalled there plasma and LCD TV cus they had problems.that what you get when you rush products.Same thing with xbox 360 HD-DVD would have better chnace of wining if microsoft waited a bit longer, but insted they rushed it to market. thats Why i like sony alot they NVER RUSH.
