Samsung's ten megapixel SCH-B600
Ok,
Samsung, ok! We get it, you always really wanted to show up LG (and every other cameraphone manufacturer in the world)
for that matter; you hit five, seven, then eight megapixels,
and now you've jumped to freaking ten megapixels as announced today at CeBIT with the SCH-B600. For those curious, the
B600 has a 3x optical zoom, flash, S-DMB support, Bluetooth, EV-DO, TV-out, and will surely carry a price tag to make
even a self respecting gadget blogger weep -- but that still doesn't mean we wouldn't want it in the US, now matter how
crappy its camera may actually be. Seriously, do you know what kind of looks your digital camera nerd friends would give
you when you say your phone shoots ten megapixels? Helio, you listening?[Via Samsung HQ]

WOW! What a waste of money!
Boys and Girls - this is why things cost so much, these fools waste so much money on R&D developing stupid things like this 10MP PHONE.
Mule @ Mar 9th 2006 8:50AM
People will buy this camera, why? Simple, its a toy, and everyone needs to have toys. Why I would need a phone that has a camera in it, is beyond me, but then I already own a digital camera system, and digital movie system. Then again, why would I want a telephone that gives me live tv? Or music? Its a phone, not an MP3 player, or a tv set........
Billy inZane @ Mar 9th 2006 8:53AM
They'd be better marketing this as a camera with a mobile phone stuck on to it.
Coming soon - "the worlds first mobile phone with a car on it".
Rikrok @ Mar 9th 2006 9:15AM
I love the look on that guy's face. It's like hes thinking "10 megapixels bitches, what?"
Billy inZane @ Mar 9th 2006 9:26AM
He looks a bit like a South Korean Marlon Brando. Chasing too many parked cars, I think.
Darth Tony @ Mar 9th 2006 10:17AM
Sure to be the crappiest, noisiest, most worthless 10 million pixels ever.
Bean989 @ Mar 9th 2006 12:32PM
i wish i had a 10 megapixel camera, but not on a phone.
PC Tech Support Atlanta @ Mar 9th 2006 1:15PM
Obviously a way to sell Samsung hard drives.

I've always felt that when giving an opinion as to taste one should make it clear that it may not apply universally like some do here.
There are some people that would love to have a high quality camera/phone combo instead of a phone and a camera. Yes, there are people that always go out with a camera. Those same people would love to find out if the 10 MP are high quality and low noise or not instead of relying on somebody saying "I bet'cha".
I've seen the previous Samsung 6 MP camera phone at the NYC Samsung gallery. It's not a bad size for a machine that does both things. I just wish that Phil Askey could review it.
awam @ Mar 9th 2006 4:20PM
Samsung can make a great phone-camera combo so why do people have so much trouble making a phone-music player?
Clay @ Mar 9th 2006 7:38PM
I tried to read the article, but I was way too disgusted by his nose.
aian @ Mar 9th 2006 9:13PM
well.. what's wrong with 10MP camera phone? nothing! Absolutely.. It's technology innovation! a progress on bringing our daily routine into one click.
This one is stepping close to perfection!
LarrySteed @ Mar 9th 2006 9:46PM
I was hoping someone was going to make fun of that damn nose. Thanks for not making me try to think of witty things to say about his face. Kings among men you guys are.
allenu @ Mar 9th 2006 10:57PM
Please, someone photoshop a gun in his hand. He looks like a crime lord!
Ukko @ Mar 10th 2006 1:04AM
Does 10MP make a difference in the picture quality? No, unless it has a REALLY good lens. I'd call that extra 7-8MP a big waste of space in your memory card.
Anton M @ Mar 10th 2006 5:28PM
It seems like an interesting phone... but why ten megapixels? Pro Photogrophers bareley even use eight.
Anyway how do i send a picture that takes so much space? Nice work but i don't think that there will be that mutch people buing that phone.
Anton M @ Mar 10th 2006 5:36PM
Okay listen up...
Buying a 10 mp camera... like $800 on debit card.
Buying a phone... $130 on discovery debit.
Buying a TV set... $200 - 1000 on your whatever card.
Buying an MP3 player and all that other crap... whell you know.
But what if you combine all of them... WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU BUY ONE OF EACH...
Whats whith that gys nose anyway?
Rick @ Mar 19th 2006 9:12PM
Looks like a great phone! Finally a real camera with plenty of mega pixels. All the camera phones Ive had have been more like a childs toy. Including the 1.3 mp camera phone I have now.
The phone looks like it needs to be a little bigger for durability. It looks too fragile like the razor. For extras it should have a Mp3 player. AM/FM radio. UHF TV. Calendar organizer that cable links to a home PC and have a removable memory flash card.
suresh @ Apr 26th 2006 1:37PM
what a great innovation is this!
To combine digital camera with best megapixel and a mobile. So it is easy to carry.
Mr13 @ May 11th 2006 11:20AM
Whats the meaning of 10 Megapixel camera without good lens.. How far can it zoom ?
Kundan @ May 15th 2006 10:19AM
It would be so much better if, instead of shooting up the megapixel race, they would make the sensor size bigger, and the driving ratio smaller. Even a 2MP pro-level DSLR takes pictures that can compare to a traditional (non-digital) picture in quality, at 4x6 (4inches x 6inches x 300dpi x 300dpi = about 2MP). Imagine having a full-frame digital point and shoot in your camera!
It's great that the LCD for the camera and the phone is going towards unification - we'll get better costs that way, since it's often the LCD panel that drives the cost. Just wish they would focus on quality rather than the megapixel quantity.
