Nainworks' "Ubiquitous Multimedia Informator" PMP
Just when you think we're done with
all this CeBIT nonsense, we discover another marginally
interesting device to fill up your RSS feed with. This time it's the new "Ubiquitous Multimedia Informator"
from Nainworks. We're not making this up, people. It looks to be a fairly full featured DMB capable PMP,
with all sorts of codec support, TV-out, 5 hour battery life, and a 20GB hard drive. The screen seems to cover most of
the face at 4-inches, and the 480x272 resolution ain't too shabby. The DMB receiver isn't built in, so while the UMI is
a tad streamlined due to this fact, you'll have to hook up an external antenna to catch TV on the go. All in all, not a
bad looking player for Korea, though we're mainly just excited by the ad copy: "We sungiss which we do the
environment setting up of English Hangul of language setting up and back of the ubdengitue UMI." Oh yeah.
[Via MobileMag]
Note from Ryan Block, Managing Editor: due to my own misunderstanding I mistakenly changed the source attribution and image on this post, but it has since been restored to its original form. I apologize for any harm or wrongdoing from this error, and respect DAPreview's rights, content, and understanding.

My Cowon A2 has all those things and a better looking chassis and battery life. The latest A2 Firmware update gave it a DMB reciever btw.
"Ubiquitous Multimedia Informator" "We sungiss which we do the environment setting up of English Hangul of language setting up and back of the ubdengitue UMI."
That's the most offensive assault on the English language and humanity I have ever seen. Screw Korea, may they succumb to the north or fall into the sea.
ya screw korea!

Actually, Cowon just released their new 1.66B firmware.

Anybody else find the term "PMP" odd?
why do they link to mobilemag when this came from dapreview.com ?
check this link for some depressing news for Engadget fans:

I too, as a loyal fan of both Engadget and DAPreview, am dissapointed with the behavior at work here. Give credit where credit is due.
The internets have caught up with you Mr. Miller! Explain yourself!
Yer all over Fark by the way.
Pretty petty stuff going on here. Lost a lot of respect for Engadget and their unethical way of dealing with a business situation. Hate them or not, give them credit for finding the information you did not. The way you guys have chosen to circument giving DAPreview credit is immature and dishonest.
I've come to like engadget quite a bit in the past year, but you guys are showing yourselves to be complete wannabes. You completely ripped this off of DAPreview. Grow up, guys; try being professional for once. Or maybe you can just delete all the comments that prove you wrong, I hear that's a cool thing to do.
You guys provide a lot of cutting edge gadget news, theres no reason not to credit the occasional DAP-related item to another site.
Wassup, Engadget? Why not be adults and do right by your true source, DAPreview? Let bygones be bygones- if you're not going to give credit to who obviously brought you into the know on this product, then don't cover it at all.... Between this and the defensiveness after that Apple non-announcement last month, I'm starting to feel a little less love for you guys....
I added information about the DAPReview conflict to wikipedia. I implore you guys to admit your mistake, apologize, and put back the original picture without the source logo obviously cropped out. it's the only way you could possibly come out of this looking like half-decent people. Go on, erase this post - but good luck erasing what I added to your wikipedia article.
You have stolen creative property from DAPreview by using their photograhpy withough crediting them. Even worse, you photoshop the image to take their logo off of it. What's worse than that? You still didn't get DAPreview completely off of it (great photoshop skillz there, can't even crop right) and look like complete tards for doing it (BTW: If you haven't been told you, you actually ARE tards).
Congrats, you FAIL at the internet. n00bs.
In middle school I was taught that stealing works from other people is immoral and considered grounds for expulsion from every higher education accredited institution in the U.S. You are adults and you continue to steal works from others without regard. Just plain sad.
Shame/Lame on engaget. Google-cache shows your pathetic manipulations. If you are going to steal from other people, at least try to be smart about it. Also, you can still make out the dapreviews watermark on your stolen picture.
Wow, you really did rip of that other site and take away credit. You can still see the remains of the logo you cropped out of the bottom of the photo. Shame on you.
Looks like the original pic is back up to try to take some of the wind out
of Dapreviews sails, but just by following this comment thread you can see that this was changed to steal from Dap... wonder how long these comments last before deletion...
Hi there,
Ryan from Engadget here. Left this same message on DAPreview and wherever else applicable explaining: when I was reviewing some posts recently I mistakenly changed the source attribution from a "via MobileMag" to them as our source, since it was my understanding that they were the originators of the news. I erroneously did not double check with the author of the post, Paul, when doing so, which was error number one (error number two was acting on that assumption, and three was removing the watermark, which is outside our policy except in cases of watermarks on press photos). Thus I can completely understand why DAPreview's editors feel like we were trying to bite their content, and I must apologize for any wrongdoing, and hope they and you understand my intentions were not ill natured but were just being rushed and distracted.
To correct my error and prevent confusion as to the originator of the news I have since moved the post back to its original form and updated it with a memorandum regarding the error. I and hope this sets things right; if DAPreview and its editors request, we can remove the post entirely, as the image in question is, of course, entirely under their copyright. Thanks, and sorry for any trouble I've caused! I appreciate your understanding.
Best, Ryan
So you just happened to crop out the dapreview.net logo? Right.
Shame on you. Thats really low.
I don't know. Im really disappointed, from the background history between you guys, this doesnt seem so much an accident.
Of course since its virtually impossible to tell whos telling the truth, I am going to continue reading like I have for the last couple years.
If all that stuff is true, let this be a wake up call to cut it out, its not worth the petty stuff.
A while ago I have mentionned that your Credit policy was not fair. That's what you deserve.
Credit properly for f$$% sake !
How is it difficult to clearly put a good link with a understandable title !!!????
And don't crop the photo without permission.
My comments to DAPreview.com-
Okay, DAPpeople, Engadget said they're sorry. While it seems there was some funny business involved, they're explanation is surely plausible. I'll say it to you like I said it them- let bygones be bygones and remove this story. Or as I tell my 2 and 4 year olds, it's time to kiss and make up. OK, we can do without the kissing part....but c'mon, I like both of you guys, so let's just start over and be respectful from here on out. Peace!
engadgets excuses really didn't cut it, the classic "We didn't mean not to link back to your site"....
Why the hell was the image cropped then ?
I found out about this issue at www.Hardocp.com. After perusing both DAPreview and this site, I find both interesting with much to offer. I agree that it's time to move on. Forget the past and play nice with DAPreview.net. Give complete credit where credit is due. After all, it was their time and effort to research and create the story. In my opinion, the final action to make this better in everyone's eyes is to change the link referencing MobileMag to DAPreview like it should be.
Let's remove watermarks on accident, YAY!
Dood,
Ryan? Those are my hands in the image. I'm not the one holding the device, but those are my hands- both of them- in the background, to the left. That's my ring so I know it's me.
My name is Vigo, and I'd like to be credited as well.
Thank you!
God bless the Intarwebs!!
