GPS people-tracking devices used to track
kids, those under house arrest, and known sex offenders alike will
have a new assignment these days: parolee gang members, ese. Three San Bernardino "high risk" felons who've
served their time for society will be getting outfitted with the anklets as a part of a test trial, which will be
studied by UCI and monitored at all times by local law enforcement for tampering and movement into
"unauthorized" zones (like, say, known gang territory, or a Streisand concert).
I live in San Bernardino and pretty much all of this friggin city is a gang terrority / projects
Are they bullet proof?
It sends an alarm to the monitoring station if it gets tampered with. Good luck disabling it.
I haVe to say, it would reaaaalllllly suck to have to wear one of those... but for all u young kids out there, now u know... don't get into trouble and then u won't have to wear one.. just imagine having to wear that thing... question here is, does it work? Of course it works.. and I support it - anything to know where those bad guys are!

New York needs these, but costs would be through the roof...
if they've already "served their time"... why are they being tracked?
@ 6/happy gilmore : "if they've already "served their time"... why are they being tracked?"
because Ryan Block doesn't know what parole is.
When you are on parole you haven't "served your time for society" yet, it's actually an early supervised release based on your sentence length, time served, behaviour, seriousness of the crime, previous convictions, and other factors. You can be sent back to jail to complete the remainder of your sentence just for hanging around a "bad crowd" even if you haven't committed another crime, but because you went against the conditions of your parole.
dont really see the point. its not gonna be-able to receive a signal if the person is indoors unless his leg is up next to a window. it probably would work well in a city with lots of buildings any ways. You would also thing it would be pretty easy to put something over the GPS so that it cannot connect to the satellites. so unless the point is it see if the person ever leaves the location i dont really see how this works. my thoughts...not urs
so when they see 10 or 11 of those little dots getting together, they know some shit is about to go down.. hehe
