Linux-based iSetBox from Media Systems does it all
It might sound a bit more like an Apple fanboy wish list than
an actual product from a Bulgarian company named Media Systems, but the iSetBox looks like it'll turn a few heads
either way if ever makes it to market. The device claims to be an all-in-one entertainment center, and we really can't
find much that isn't in this box. It includes a CD and DVD writer, can record analog and digital TV, offers a web
browser and email client, and can even has a 6-in-1 card reader to further its media inputs. If that wasn't enough, the
Linux-based unit can listen to and record digital and analog radio, sports Ethernet networking, and has a myriad of
digital and analog inputs and outputs to further its reach into your home's media devices. If you find the unit still
lacking, you can add WiFi, Bluetooth or other niceties via a PCI card. The whole box is controlled via a single remote
control, which can create playlists of the numerous media formats supported. It's hard to imagine something this
feature-filled ever making it to market, but we sure wouldn't mind if it did.

Interesting concept and nice list of capabilities, but that thing is UGLY. Won't look good anywhere near my TV, my stereo, or my computer. It sticks out like a big, white triangular thumb.
Personally, I think it likes a POS. It does have a lot of features though. Lets look at how much this bad boy will cost. Then we'll move from there.
Also, I just started a blog community at www.BloggersHQ.com You can swap links with other members or get help and tips on blogging, or just talk about other peoples blogs. I thought you might wanna check it out.
This is what PS3 will be able to do AND have Blue Ray drive AND play games in HD. Go PS3!
Although I hate the name. I before e(verything) is getting really old.
But the thing that will make it fail if in their FAQ.
""Can the end user buy iSetBox – Home directly from us?
No. End users can buy iSetBox-Home only from services providers. These are TV companies or telecom operators broadcasting digital video content via satellite, cable or offering terrestrial television."
Getting a Comcast or Direct TV to offer this is going to be an uphill battle.
Isn't it a bit of a stretch to call this thing a setBOX? Although I can't find the word that corresponds to triangle like circle does to cylinder...
Bart - I think the word you're looking for it trilyndrical. And am I the only one who think this thing looks like one of the slimes from Draqon's Quest?
triangular prism.
@ #3: I'm pretty sure PS3 won't be recording analog or digital TV. PS3 web-browser maybe, but a PS3 email client? Doubtful. Although PS3 and this thing will probably cost about the same. They will both cost a helluva lot.
This is what I thought the last Apple announcement was going to bring us. Tons of features, but the design leaves a lot to be desired. Put a $300 price tag on this feature set and you've got a winner.
That thing looks pretty interesting. It'd be a shame to see all those features get blocked by Broadcast Flags/DRM.
They should've gone even further and made it into some sort of transformer modules - where you can grab a chunk of it and go - want sat radio, take this part, portable CD player - another part - once reassembled, it can strike terror in the hearts of Creative & SanDisk ... Apple, not so much.
