Dell planning 27-inch 2707WFP?
We have no
confirmation on this, and don't expect any in the near future, but according to DailyTech, Dell is in the process of
squeezing a new display into their lineup, right between the 24-inch 2407WFP and 30-inch 3007WFP (pictured above). The 27-inch display, according to
DailyTech, will be called -- wait for it -- the 2707WFP, and will reportedly be built around Samsung's LTM270M1panel,
which has a 1900x1200 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 90-degree viewing angle. We're not sure what the pricing or
timing will be on this, though we suspect that if Dell really is planning on rolling it out, the company will want to
give the 2407WFP a bit of a head start. After all, the price difference between the two may not be too extreme, and if
this one's just around the corner, it could just undermine sales of the 24-incher, which is expected to go for about
$1,000.

Awesome. That'd make this the biggest, highest-resolution screen you can use with a single-link DVI port.
90 degree viewing angle? That's crappy.
Hmm... same res as the 24", I think I'd want a little bit more resolution if I was getting a larger screen
so if the 24-inch 2407WFP has a 1920x1200 resolution
the 27-inch 2707WFP in rumor has a 1900x1200 resolution
and the 30-inch 3007WFP has a 2560x1600 resolution
then that really isn't a middle ground monitor...
..... considering these are computer monitors and are ment to be sat close to, then its not about size. its more about resolution... wouldn't it make more sense to debute a 27inch screen with a higher resolution than the 24inch they already make?
Hmmm a 27" or another 24"er to go alongside my existing 2405FPW....decisions, decisions, decisions
Nah ... I will wait for the 28.75inch LCD ...
Frankly, I'd like to see a 20" diag monitor with 1920x1200. My laptop has a 15" screen with those dimenions, which is a little tiny but quite nice. A 24" monitor is even a little bit for 1920x1200, and a 27" monitor seems even more like large print edition.
90 degrees just might be too little considering how close some people sit to their monitors. by the time you look from one side of the screen to the other you might have panned more than 90 degrees...
Uh wouldn't 90 degrees mean you'd be directly sideways from it, and not able to see the screen anyway?
27" diagonal means that your eyes would have to be 13.5" inches away from the center of the screen for there to be 90deg. viewing angle difference between the two corners.
If you follow the links to the panel specs, the claimed viewing angle is 90/90/90/90. In other words, 180 degrees horizontally and vertically.
Lysol, NO... 90 degree viewing angle means you can't look at it beyond 45 degree left or right. Think of it like a 90 degree angle "V" balancing on it's point in the middle. Get it?
The purpose to fhe monitor because there is no jump in resolution is to make abjects appear bigger on the display. But the fact that the resolution recieves no bump would be disappointing. I think were in TV country here gentlemen.
#11 I concur.. isnt the res of 1900x1200 16:9? 16:10 would be 1920x1200 like the 24"
wtf. how is 1900x1200 16:9 when it's less wider?
This monitor is for old people with bad vision who aren't running vista or osx, both of which have or will have technology that makes font the same size no matter what the resolution.
Yeah guys it's a typo, look up the LTM270M1 and you'll see it's 1920x1200 just like the 2405FPW.
I have been hearing about this monitor for a while and have been very excited about it. As for the people complaining about resolution, that is a huge resolution and you will not be dissatisfied by it at all.
It is a much better monitor to me compared to the 30" from dell for these reasons: it has a 1:1 pixel ratio for 1080i/p which makes this an incredible tv/monitor, is 3" smaller than the 30" so there is less head movement on the screen yet it is still HUGE, the "lower" resolution of this model makes it much easier to play games on w/ out spending $1000+ on sli graphics every 9 months, and, I'm pretty sure it will have all of the inputs as the 2405/7fpw. Now, if it only has a dvi in like the 3007fpw, then all I've said is wrong.
Right now I'm on a 2005fpw, and love it. Add 7 more inches, a component input (not on 2005), hdcp support, newer bezel, lower response time, and a 1080p resolution, I'm stoked!
its not a 1:1 pixel ratio for 1080i/p, 1080i/p is 1920x1080, but thats so closed is doubt any will notice.
Hmmm... I got a 2005fpw when it first came out. I wanted a 30", wife said no. Proposed a 24", wife said only 4 more inches....
Now a 27" version, I just might be able to make this work.
:D
"its not a 1:1 pixel ratio for 1080i/p, 1080i/p is 1920x1080, but thats so closed is doubt any will notice."
Well, it'll just add black bars on the top and bottom, unless you can't stand that and force it to stretch. For all intents and purposes though, it could be considered 1x1, since if you don't stretch, it will still fill to the side of the screen, and maintain the 1x1 there.
If you follow the link says it will actualy be 1920x1200 so it can do 1:1 pixel ratio for 1080i/p :)
Doubt anyone would make a 1900x1200 display as it wouldn't be a standard ratio (16:10 or 16:9).
I was looking at the 2407WFP but might wait for this to come out now.
Damn! I have been waiting for the 2407 a long time because I knew that HDCP would become an issue in the future. When the 3007 came out I hated the fact the you needed dual-link-DVI because I wanted to use it for my Xbox360 too. So although I would have loved the larger size I kept waiting for the 2407. Now it´s getting closer to be released in Europe and suddenly I read about this 27 incher. Great. I want it! But how long do I have to wait for it this time? Another year? Hell, we don´t even have a date for the 2407 yet. This is getting to my nerves. It´s like the graphics cards industry: The moment they release their top product, there is something better on the horizon. I would have bought the 2407 right at launch but now I´m not sure any more.
