Sony has a new series of
flash-based players, though for now, it looks like you may have to go to China (where it was apparently designed) to
get one. The CE-P series includes a 1.5-inch color OLED display, MP3 and WMA playback (no word on PlaysForSure, but
we're not holding our breath), FM tuner and voice recorder. Capacities and prices include the 256MB CE-P13 for about
$100, 512MB CE-P15 for about $125, and the 1GB CE-P15 for about $150. No word on if or when they'll be available on a
continent near you.
Surely it's now time to stop making 256MB and even 512MB MP3 players?

This is getting ridiculous. Here we have yet another Sony device that is not being released in the U.S... or at least there's no release date in sight. As far as flash players are concerned, Sony is still selling the same, old, tired "Core" and "Bean" Network Walkman flash players. They are overpriced and technically underwhelming (especially when you have to suffer through using SonicStage in order to use them). Sony doesn't even have an HD player currently on the market in the U.S. I don't understand their strategy. Their MDs have stalled, HDs are non-existent, their flash players haven't changed for a year now and everything new is being released overseas. I think Sony has lost touch with market demand and even seems to be showing their loyal customers the door. It looks like an interesting flash player, but who cares? Unless it is released in the U.S., it is a non-event.
WMA support is fantastic. $150 seems fair for a 1GB model with FM tuner, voice recorder, and 1.5" OLED. Though, if they brought this player to the US, it would be smart for them to introduce a 2GB+ model for around $199 to be competitive with Apple's shuffle & nano.
I wonder if it has slot for a flash memory. It does? Oh lemme guess. Memory stick duo!
I wish I had some more pictures. Hey, maybe.... they dropped Sonic Stage!!!!!!
Hey Sony, No AAC support = no sale!
Hey I have an AWESOME Sony MP3 Player, 1GB memory, 4.5 inch colour screen, plays MP3, WMA, Videos, browses internet, plays 3D games, and I got it right here at one of the thousands of retailers that are selling it in the US. Did I mention there is no sonicstage? and if there was I could just load the files directly onto the REMOVEABLE flash card. Wanna know what it is? They call it a PSP. its pretty crazy I know, but for $300 these days, Sony puts out a good product.
Well... in China people still buy MP3 players that small in capacity, but most likely no DRM since there are no legal download services that use DRM (Yahoo has a decent search and download (free and legal) service here- http://mp3.yahoo.com.cn
Look's cool mp3 player I like that, but the only thing that I dont like is WMA, I like ATRAC3 more than WMA, because the sound quality are much more better than WMA. The price are expansive, I think they added WMA Licence fee, thats why they are expansive.

Right so everything outside of the US is irrelevent, and Engadet can't report on news outside the states. The world doesn't revolve around you Donald Rumsfeld.
They got a website it seems for this player:
http://www.sony.com.cn/electronics/walkman2005/ce/white/main.html
Looking at the site, its actually a pretty spiffy player with a fantastic looking screen and great looking interface. They have quite a bit a features in the little thing; View pictures, FM tuner, microphone, WMA/MP3 support, OLED screen.Sony really has a value winner if they brought this over to the US and Europe.
Also, the size is perfect, around the width of a ipod nano, shorter (without that handle), same sized screen (except being OLED), and thicker. Not to small its a compromise, and priced right.
The player is not OLED it is LCD. Read the actual product page. I dont think that they even make an OLED that supports 260k colors in that size.

Actually, yes. It does.
When will Sony learn to stop pushing these expensive and relatively unknown formats down our throats. Betamax=DEAD , Mini-Disc=DEAD, UMD= nearly DEAD, and Blu-ray gonna be next. They won't be getting my hard-earned 600 bucks lol
