Vertu intros first 2 of 6 Racetrack Legends handsets
Ever since their Ascent Motorsport Edition withstood five
rollovers by a Porsche Boxster, we've taken Nokia's Vertu luxury
handset division much more seriously, and you'll never again hear us questioning the logic of spending $X on one of
their products (where X = some obscenely large number). The company's newest designs, called the Racetrack Legends
series, each pay tribute to one of six of the greatest circuits on Earth and are limited to 1000 units apiece, with
outlines of Italy's Monza and Britain's Silverstone etched onto the back of the first two releases. When you're in the
market for a Vertu phone, features are surely not your top priority, and the Legends series meets those expectations
with nary a notable spec other than the inclusion of Bluetooth and tri-band GSM connectivity. Likewise, if you have to
ask about pricing on these, you're probably not part of the target demographic.

See, if I saw one of these I'd wonder why the person had a big foot etched on their cell phone.
LOL @ Comment 2
And I agree with Comment 1. I refresh Engadget like every single hour. :D
I actually bought the Motorsport one when it came out - possibly the dumbest purchase I have ever made, promptly returned!
The phone is heavy, the aftersale value is worse than jewellery and certainly worse than cars and the much touted concierge service (from TenUK) can't even get me a table at popular restaurants such and don't even have preferential rates with Hotels so your paying the Internet Rates that is available to everyone.
For all the doubters who still think this phone is good, go to a Vertu Boutique and ask to have a demo of one - they will flat out refuse cause the phone UI is the basic Nokia 1100 one and really is not that impressive at all - when I owned the phone one person in the London subway noticed the phone, in that he was staring at it - I showed it to a builder and they thought it was a 300GBP phone, shocked he was when I said it was 3250GBP!
to poster #4
I don't quite agree with you, I also own the Motorsport Vertu and I find it one of the best purchases I've ever made. As you said not many people know what it is, which is EXACTLY the point why I bought it, don't want to be so high profile. Also another reason is that I HATE everytime I spend over $1k on a cell phone 4 months later EVERYONE has the SAME phone... I'm sick of having EVERYONE using the same phone as me... therefore when I purchased the motorsport edition I was 100% SURE that I am the only person in Vancouver with that phone, which makes me feel a lot better that NO ONE else has the same phone as me... and as for the Concierege I agree that they can't get a better rate is total BULL CRAP and the service when they are forwarded to San Francisico base is just HORIBBLE I hate those people they can't do anything and are VERY RUDE, while the people that work in the UK base are a lot more customer oriented... but I have made countless reservations though the service and I've only had 1 that couldn't go through, because I also made reservations for my firends on Valentines day on the day... and I got the tables no problem.... so I don't know it might be just that time that you had an unlucky experience....
^^^^ Dang high rollers...
OMG S Li! People are using the EXACT SAME INTERNET AS YOU! Run for the hills Henny Penny.
On one slightly odd level I have huge admitarion for #4 honesty. Personally when I spend that amount of money of things it for the superior quality. f you want to be unique don't go for mass produced goods would be my tip. Get ome talented student to make you one or something.
to poster #5.
Dude. It's a phone.
To #5: Get a life.
when I first read this post I wondered what kind of people would buy a vertu phone... and after reading these comments I think I finally understand.
Short of listening to me, is trying out the phone - Vertu does not grant "demos" of the phone in store or out - relying on customers who are few and far between is the only way for society to get to know something outwith reach of most of humanity.
My initial impulse to purchase was in line with the desire to be unique - in that I was in the same situation as poster number four in that I followed the mobile phone trends as a very early adopter, and six months down the line heroin addicts and kids were using the same phones (Razr V3) thanks to generous mobile phone contacts with lengthy contracts - this "massclusivity" led me to look to the Vertu range - most people know of the Vertu's existence but before their Ascent range, not many people were willing to spend $18,000 dollars to find out - but with the advent of the Ascent, people were willing to perhaps stretch themselves and be extravagent - splash out - and purchase into the Vertu brandname. The Vertu Motorsport Edition is of a limited run and retailed for 3250 GBP - it looks nice and the Carbon Fiber cover looks even nicer - certainly nicer than the Nokia 8800 and it's associated flaws. Yet after taking the phone home the enthusiasm subsided, fully charged I turned it on for the very first time, and it was nothing more than a basic Nokia 1100 UI wise that my Driver uses - as already mentioned, the Concierge isn't great and that's what they sell you on - the Concierge - what they don't mention is that the service is included in the first year and afterwards costs 800 GBP to renew! Eight Hundred Pounds for a service that can't even get me a table at a "hot" New York City restaurant but instead sends me a list of slightly passe one's and tell me they have a relationship with these, but getting a table at yesterdays fashionable nightspot is no feat at all and it would be cheaper for me to do it myself.
In conclusion: there is only one comprehensive Vertu review on the WWW, this was of the Signature range - and the isolation that this review enjoys is for good reason, simply because this phone and the brand is a silly purchase - I know, I have been there and done that and came out the wiser - I hope you guys do too.
I agree with #8.
It is a phone, it's not a $50k+ car..
Vertu mobile phone is very expensive, and is a symbol of wealth, many people Can not afford to buy.Talking about the mobile phone brand Vertu means talking how much money we will spend to buy them and do not ever expect to get the sophistication of mobile phone Vertu because of the focus on luxury.A few days ago, I have seen that a person handed a clone vertu mobile phones on the streets , and it was very beatiful and the same to original vertu , I was very fond of it, i heard that hiphoneshop's vertu is very cheap, but i do not know, who does buy goods from hiphoneshop? The Hiphoneshop company - based in Shenzhen, China - manufactures first-class mobile phones in China in elegant and timeless designs for extraordinary people, who are not simply content with standard items.
Does Vertu offer a bundled carrier, or is that entirely up to the customer?
