Don't worry, that faint screaming sound you hear in
the distance is just the sound of a million Sony fanboys. Looks like those rumors of steep PS3 pricing weren't
so far off after all, since in a radio interview yesterday with Générations Europe, Sony Computer
Entertainment Europe VP George Fornay mentioned that the PS3 will
cost between €499 and €599, which is around $613 and $736 USD. He excused the price with the fact that it's a
real steal for a Blu-ray playback system, but we're not so assured. Of course, Europe always gets a little screwed when
it comes to console pricing, with the premium Xbox 360
going for €399 there while it rings up at a mere $399 here. If that logic holds, we might see the PS3 for $499 in
the states, which happens to match up with the current buzz going around the developer community. It's always possible
that Sony is just throwing out wild and crazy numbers to make us all surprised when the console hits for the regular
$300 Sony price point, but it's looking less and less likely.[Via Joystiq]

I'd rather wait for the extra I'll be getting then settle for a console that has done nothing but churn out FPS or PC ports that look worse than the PC counterparts.
Known for single player games as Xbox struggles to produce many. Known for single player games because it only has 2 controller ports. Known for single player games because it hasn't had a full-fledged online service.
PS3 will have none of these issues (even 360 is getting an almost healthy dose of decent single player titles).
Backwards compatibility IS a bonus. I assume you don't have an HDTV? I don't particularly enjoy plugging in my PS1 with a scart and watching it in 480i. Even non-HD owners don't want all of their previous consoles plugged into their TV. It's why Nintendo are offering their download service, good thing you don't like retro games because all your 360 is giving you is Street Fighter 2. With the success of Geometry Wars I would suspect even 360 fans would appreciate the appeal of simpler games.
Personally, I'd rather have my room filled with people playing Singstar, PES5, Mario party, Halo 2. I play online when I'm bored or people are busy, so I'd rather not have to pay for when I do go online. Not everyone's a l33t FPS player. That's why the broader range of games for PS2 and no doubt for PS3 will ensure it's success despite setbacks.
You say it's difficult to ban people on a free service? Do you even know how any of this technology works? Of course not, by the end of your post you're already resorting to abuse.
Are you able to read? I said banning will mean so much when its free. In Lee talk this means that cheaters will easily get another FREE account to cheat on. And the support for this FREE service is going to be so great. Im sure Sony is going to spend a lot of money on a support team that brings in zero revenue.
Uh...you put Halo 2 into your statement. You said you would rather have people playing in you living room. If you have Live its the same thing! You CAN here people talk you know. You want to be able to touch them too? I thought you only touch yourself? And Im sure you have friends over all the time watching you play FF ALONE! How much fun!
In your statement you are using a PC, Nintendo, and Playstation to counter argue. Live has tons of "retro" games to download and a pc costs 3 times that of the 360. Guess there werent enough pluses to stick with Playstation alone. Uh oh. There goes that word alone again. Go back to playing with yourself.
By the way...old games keep their old graphics. Because its on a new system you think it automatically jumps to HD? Do you know anything about electronics or just come on here to write because you are alone? UM...my name is Leeeroy...I play enjoy final fantasy and any game I can play with myself...I believe a game can magically turn into HD by playing on a new system. Obviously I misunderstood. You're just not articulating your point very well. If you're saying they can easily get another free account, as I thought, then this is incorrect as it's simple to ban a piece of hardware from connecting. If you mean that it will mean too much, then they could simply ban for a month or something. Your sarcasm geared towards a free service is unfounded, there are a number of excellent free game servers, you claim to never play alone so you must be familiar with them. Or do you not stray beyond your Xbox gaming world?
If you honestly believe playing on Live is the same as playing in a room with friends then you are not the one to lecture me on being alone.
Your attack is on people who play single player games, that is simply ignorant and an attack on several genres of videogames. Completely beside the point and pointless to argue against, as it's opinion.
UH...I put Halo 2 into my statement, and discuss Nintendo because I AM NOT A MINDLESS FANBOY. I've enjoyed multiplayer on most of the systems without a need for "my console's better than yours". I referenced PC because it's offering what 360 is, and PCs exist in most homes. So why should they shell out on a 360 when a graphics card and a 360 controller for less will give them the same experience except with thousands more games?

Last time, because you're simply astounding me with your abuse. Do you know what anti-aliasing is? Do you know that the 360 (and PS3 claims to) render BC games in higher resolutions?
Sorry, forgot, got lost in my Final Fantasy world again. Anti-aliasing and higher resolutions are magical things, they're not in the real world.

My console? Which one would that be? Xbox? PS2/3? Gamecube/DS/Revolution? I didn't make those anymore than you made the 360. The 360 just doesn't have anything to offer me (the owner of a capable PC) personally. I just think comparatively in terms of software and hardware, it's not a worthy purchase. Go read up on the subject before mouthing off. Or at least look at Xbox games played on an HDTV through a 360.
the price of the ps3 will not go any higer than 500 i'm sure of it but it is a steal considering the fact that the blu ray technology they use is worth 1000 in which if you add all that up it's atleast 1500 bucks
