Samsung's SGH-T509 gets official for US T-Mobile launch
That 0.39-inch thick SGH-T509
phone from Samsung -- the slimmest candybar phone so far announced for the US -- just got confirmed today, and should be
available in the states this May. The phone features EDGE data, Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity, and a camera of undetermined
resolution. Samsung actually isn't spilling much info on this phone for as hyped up about it as they are in their PR. We
still know barely more than we skimmed off the FCC site in March, but it does look like this phone will be making its
way to T-Mobile users. Catherine Zeta-Jones will be so
proud.

I like the feel for these buttons better than the SLVR.. feels more tactile and solid. Definately. And gee, its WAY thinner.
Must be on the low carb diet! :-P

wow samsung... another moto knockoff who would have guessed.
torkhum @ Apr 5th 2006 12:28PM
So passe. Why do we get the oldes and most used up model from Europe or Japan? Didn't they introduce this in Europe in '04?
liquid @ Apr 5th 2006 12:29PM
how long does it take for phones to start coming with bluetooth 2.0 EDR, its been out for a while now.
Jeff @ Apr 5th 2006 1:46PM
Another one? First you ripped off RAZR and called yours "Blade", now what are you going to call this? geez Sammy, have some originality .....
Adam @ Apr 5th 2006 2:16PM
It maybe thinner than a RAZR but it's nowhere near as good looking...
xeenman @ Apr 5th 2006 2:33PM
hey #4, you do know about samsung & moto's cross licensing agreement right?
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Samsung-And-Motorola-Sign-Cross-Licensing-Deal-4145.shtml
That's why Moto's Z "knocks off" Samsung's T809

moto knockoff? hardly. maybe a little, but still. it's probably a better phone by far. moto's awesome, but they need to update their extras on the phone. like that horrible .3 mp camera of theirs. it's one of the only things that make me shy away from a moto. if this thing has good battery life and i can scratch off that t-mobile insignia without damaging the phone then w00t! this get's my vote for next "Available in American" phone since cingular is so iffy about the w810i.
dclounger @ Apr 5th 2006 6:17PM
Moto knockoff? Try Sanyo knockoff (you read that right). Finally someone's matched the thickness (thinness?) of the Sanyo 6000.
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=40
Geez, only took them like 4 years.
Raishad @ Apr 5th 2006 9:22PM
It'd be nice if it supported iSync
Samsung, why do you make me so :(
Robert Stewart @ Apr 6th 2006 12:11AM
So this thing is thinner than the SLVR?
Nate Lynch @ Apr 6th 2006 7:51AM
so it's considered a knockoff now if anyone produces a really thin phone? Capitalism is about competition people...you can't patent and own "thin."
andrew @ Apr 6th 2006 11:42AM
ihave had enough with people immediately calling things knock offs
i never knew that you were allowed to patent measurements???
this world has turned into a god damned "i love them so your just copying because one strand of your hair is the same length as theirs" - just because somebody makes an mp3 player thats the same size as an ipod but does twice as much, its immediately a copy or knock off, if someone makes a phone slimmer or smaller than a RAZ(o)R or SL(i)V(e)R that does more, its immediately a knock-off
HAVENT YOU FANBOYS EVER HEARD OF SOMETHING CALLED COMPETITION? you really should listen more in business studies - if something works, it gets used, like...maybe...a slim phone...or a white mp3 player

I just went by the tmobile store today and they said may 1st, and probably around 240 there not exactly sure. Its not like the moto SLVR with itunes, which kind of got me mad, but it looks like a nice phone. There buttons arnt close together like the pebble or the razr
apollo @ Apr 11th 2006 4:55PM
Rather than thinking of this phone as a knock-off of the SLVR, my opinion is that it's more about one-up-manship. In other words, we can make our phone x thin - can you top that?
This is great as far as providing consumers with more choices. To use a car analogy, the BMW 330 is the industry benchmark but I actually prefer the new Lexus IS350 and am glad I have the choice.
BEN @ Apr 12th 2006 11:40AM
Any one else just worried about the Phone not breaking like most of the Moto Phones do?? Thin, Thick, Knock off are all cool but not if they break easy!!
Tecnozoom @ Apr 12th 2006 1:46PM
Very, very slim .... I like Samsung T509
