iRiver Japan is Reigncom's only region we've seen make the
announcement today, but they've got a 2GB version of their
lime green T10 due out there for ¥19,980 (about $170
US). Doesn't look too different than the MP3, WMA, OGG, ASF playing, FM tuning, voice recording device we're well used
to otherwise, and it's still got that same damned single-cell AAA battery, making it one of the more capacious players
to take said cells. Expect these to go on sale the 26th of this month over yonder in the land of the rising sun -- who
knows (if and) when, elsewhere.
Its actually an AA battery and NOT an AAA battery...
Could you please fix the 'to' I think you mean too (also). Bad grammer ... thanks.
Grammar also.
"but it's still got that same damned single-cell AAA battery"
Isn't a single cell standard battery a big advantage. I know it is for me. Especially if it works with rechargeable Nimh. Much better than expensive proprietary Lithium any day of the week.
Quoted play time is 50 hours!
Looks great to me. Let's just hope we see it in the US. And I agree -- rechargeable AA = score.
Actually, nothing inherently wrong with LiPo batteries. We just need to have chargers for them or something. (You can get them from electronics suppliers.) Make the removable, in other words.
Yah - AA battery means no carrying the charger with you when you travel, or having to worry about finding a spare USB port somewhere (although the latter isn't the worst thing).
Here's the edited version of the article:

The limegreen is cool, except it has the same features my old iriver does with the exception of 512 mb.
Old news, we had this 2GB player in Australia for months now.
Finally, Australia is ahead of some other countries such as Japan for the first and probably the last time.
have to agree with the other comments about the benefit of easily switchable spare-set-on-hand (cheap, plentiful, rechargeable) AA batteries.
Embedded, proprietary, cannot-be-switched batteries are awful.
I concur! With new highpowered AA and AAA batteries out now; Panasonic Oxyride, Duracell ULTRA, Energizer E2, Lithium cells & rechargeables I can't think of any reason to choose a player with some one-of-a-kind battery built in. Just asking for trouble.
Also "comes complete with a clip so you can attach the player to your belt or bag" ! Finally!
This thing looks purpose built. Its as good as bought.
In response to Tim Kraemer's comments (the first comment).
You do not say "an" AA or "an" AAA. You should know (being the English expert you are) that you put "an" in front of words that begin with a vowel SOUND. Example: an hour.
I think this looks like a great player worthy of consideration cas of its voice recording and FM. Taking a AA is good: it means it will work anywhere anytime unlike proprietry batteries.
Using a NORMAL AA battery is in my opinion the best choice.
This player is not bound to any custom made expensive battery and you can carry with you as many batteries as you want.
Moreover, the player will last forever, you'll never see the day when a spare custom battery is not produced any more.
Totally agree about the battery thing. This seems a little nuts.
I'm a really fan of the styling this time. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
^you would need a charger for any other mp3 player.
