iRiver U10 makes it to 2GB (in Japan)
We
kind of wish iRiver Japan wasn't always skipping ahead of the rest of iRiver with their own 2GB players (except Korea, of
course), but Engadget fav portable-portable media player U10 is
topping off at 2GB over there now, too. It'll set you back ¥22,980 (about $200 US) when it launches the 26th of
this month, but be patient, we have a feeling this'll make it Stateside sooner than later (and really, how often do you
hear us say that?).

Fantastic,
The u10 is a great device, the only real complaint being the small size 2GB is still paltry but for $200 bucks it's hard to complain.

It's already available to purchase on the European site, don't know how long that's been the case.

Yes, this product is already in supply in the UK, but we should also be aware that it's a leap in portable technology and not many people know about it, for example, myself. I read about it months ago and was not aware it was already available in the market; this may be some form of press release, which, in my opinion, is very good. So, thumbs up for the press release!

Great....BUT. this thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. they gave them out free at work recently and everyone in the interface design dept noticed one huge drawback: the cpu isn't powerful enough to run flash without a significant latency, once a button (or side of the screen in this case) is pressed there is this delay that really kills the percieved experience. sure, it's not a deal killer, but the respnsiveness of the entire interface leaves much to be desired and since the U10's whole os is based around this deep levels menu system, you can feel buried once you're a few levels deep, because you know you have to wait through all these delays just to get up a couple layers.... so here's me waiting for the dual core U10 :)

If they stuck a 30GB HDD on the back of that i would buy it in a shot, but 2GB? No thanks.
AutoDas @ Apr 21st 2006 7:36PM
you cant stick 30gb into that case... Lol
