JoyTech's LCD makes your Xbox 360 portable -- or something
Yeah, we've seen plenty of LCDs haphazardly attached to about every recent console out there in hopes of
creating a portable system of sorts, but we're not sure they've ever looked quite as ridiculous as this 9.2-incher from
JoyTech. Sure, 9.2-inches is a decent bit of display as far as these setups go, and the 800 x 480 widescreen resolution
is welcome, but with as hot as the 360
gets already, we don't think it'll take very kindly to having its side vents sealed off by a hunk of plastic. We
also can't imagine this thing riding on your lap while you game in the backseat of your next roadtrip, but it doesn't
look like even JoyTech would presume that, and instead probably hope to squeeze this into a few tight dorm rooms that
would otherwise resign to being entries in Xbox 360 Fanboy's most pathetic 360 setup
contest.

I'd rather have the new Samsung LCD HDTV.
Oh such ad influence.
Neoterix @ Apr 29th 2006 5:23PM
Maybe it's for the kids in the backseat of your minivan for road trips? I dunno.

Not mentioning the first comment is pretty childish and - LAME - (not the mp3 'encoder')... i think that MS will buy this LCD and Put it on the XBOX 360, mount a Controller (chop it in bits and a bit left, front and right) and then resell it as XBOX 360 Portable (short: Xb360p), at least it wouldn't suprise me seeing MS always buys companies and is well known for being bloated people (well they produce bloatware, thats just it).
Ok well thanks for reading this useless comment :)
mark lucarelli @ Apr 29th 2006 5:51PM
#2 microsoft is already losing so much money with the 360 why would they buy this from a company when no one would buy it and they couldnt support it.
eric the great @ Apr 29th 2006 6:49PM
Stil doesnt exactly make it portable with bloody huge power brick!
David Lewandowski @ Apr 29th 2006 6:52PM
m-m-m-mmmega meltdown!

wonko @ Apr 29th 2006 7:10PM
Anyone who's picked up their Xbox 360 while it was running will tell you that it's a great way to turn a $60 game into a coaster. Never EVER move your Xbox 360 with a disc inside!
batid second try @ Apr 29th 2006 7:15PM
the idea isn't bad, but it seems not well implemented. Actually, joytech is one of the major producer of lcd screen for consoles, a model well done is the one for the slim pstwo, that with an external box can became even a tv. However this x360 lcd surely is unuseful for the most users, even considering that these next gen console would have a major resolution. Maybe in future with new cpus for xbox360 with different process production, and so less temperature problems and price dropping, can be a good gadget (however is strange, different from any other lcd this remain with the screen up, so the dust will park).
i didn't see my post, so i rewrite it, please delete one of them if appears together, thanks
... @ Apr 29th 2006 7:17PM
Err... Yeah... I can see myself carrying the 360 around everywhere and dropping it anyways... the power brick would be a hassle anyways...
... Thats if the design was practical...
Ha!
Nukes and Candy @ Apr 29th 2006 7:26PM
No, no, no, no, no!!! Definitly a big fat NO! To fat, to oldschool, to.... um... crappy. (period!)
Thinner, lighter, higher res, dont block the vents. Back to the drawing boards!!

holly crap! this is -- eeeeeeeeewwwww!!!!!!!!
in a college dorm? no you'd be better off hooking it up to the compy screen- despite how hard that could get
embassy @ Apr 29th 2006 9:47PM
actually when u look at the image closely u can see it doesnt block the vents on the side...it has an open area around the vents...smart...but still old school looking...
David Lewandowski @ Apr 29th 2006 10:07PM
I'd rather run my xbox 360 on a microwave.
Karl Viklund @ Apr 29th 2006 10:11PM
Ridiculous???
I dont get it. Why d you think it's ridiculous?
I think it looks like a cool gadget thing. Even if I don't want one/need one. And I don't one a Xbox. But if I would be a console it woule be a Xbox 360.
Beware of the rootkits!
Sorry. Could not help it. But Sony is on my "Not buy" list and will stay there.
Kris Aubuchon @ Apr 30th 2006 1:23AM
I hate all of those lame lcd screens! (except the psone)
They are puny, and not practical at all. Get a DS or a PSP even!
360 in a moving vehicle? No, no baaad joytech.
This thing is a bad idea for any situation. Any of them. No, don't say it - you're wrong.
Oh man, especially the ones made by intec. I get put into some horrible rage everytime I remember intec exists.
Anyhow, these things are always horrible quality. If you need this to play your 360, then you might want to rethink why you even bought a 360. You can buy a nice flat panel monitor @ about 15inches for a little more than the price of this thing.
I don't care how small your dorm room is, invest in a nice computer monitor! If you want to multitask, buy two crappy flat panels.
This makes as much sense as the RF adapter. If anyone enters the most pathetic setup contest with this, I say they win by default.
Nick M @ Apr 30th 2006 4:26AM
Its not a bad idea, I bet they will sell quite a few as i can totally see people who would buy this.
No more rediculous than that PS2 one. That seemed popular, i saw that around quite a bit.
But the xbox360 isn't luering me back to console gaming.
I AM PLAYING THE SAME GAME THAT I WAS 6 YEARS AGO, JUST WITH 5.1 AND BETTER GRAPHICS. BORING.
nb @ Apr 30th 2006 11:28AM
lol, i agree with #2, how beautiful. haha.
Free The Flash @ Apr 30th 2006 2:36PM
What a stupid idea.
Bad job.
Kyu @ May 1st 2006 12:57AM
As stupid as it may sound, I actually like the idea. When I was in the army, we would go on deployments. And we would try to bring as much entertainment we could. Granted, an XBox360 may be fragile, but we would pack it and along with a 13" TV. So this little LCD would be perfect for deployments. I'm out of the Army, just got out in August of last year so I may never use it, but to all the soldiers out there, they really enjoy it.
And yes, I got the idea from watching people play their PS2s and Xboxs on their little LCDs as well.
JOYTECH @ May 1st 2006 5:16AM
Hi there, my name's Alex Verrey and I'm the PR and Communications Manager for JOYTECH. Interesting comments, we welcome all feedback good or bad. Few things to point out though:
1) The Monitor does NOT block any air vents to the console. It has been designed to avoid damaging the console in any way.
2) The Monitor is not deisgned to be portable (It has no In-Car Adapter). It is best used where space is at a premium.
3) The Monitor is actually VERY good quality. It is a TFT display and in terms of quality, it is on a par if not better than our PStwo 8inch Monitor that has scored many, many great reviews. Please don't compare to our competitor's models!
Should anyone have any further quaestions, please feel free to contact me through the JOYTECH Website.

I've got the psone screen and its great because the psone is tiny. Put for someting as big as the 360 wouldn't a mini portable project be better. I don't know how cheaply it could be made, but it wouldn't need to be too powerful say like to project a 21" image from a short distance.
