Alright Q fans, we've got some good news
for you. We've received word that
Verizon and
Motorola are holding a joint news conference in New York this May
22nd -- no, not May 22nd 2007, though we should qualify that -- to announce the Q. We know, wipe the look of shock off
your face; we don't really have much more info to give you than that, but really, what more do you need? By this point
you're either completely sick of hearing about this thing, or have some insane pent up urge to get one, so for the
latter crowd: keep your eyes and ears tuned to May 22nd.
Great Verizon has it, I hope this does not mean cripled bluetooth. But then again its Verizon...
Will this phone be avilable to the Asian markets. I wonder what is the price of it? Th real growth in mobile phone these days is in India and China. So, may be the press conference should have taken place in CHina.
Anyone else yawning? I would like to see the Nokia E60 and E70 on a GSM.
The original prototype pics were so nice... Now it has been Verizonized...
The screen looks smaller somehow... Also I'm intrigued to see how those keys feel. They seem far apart, and the way they are angled seems fairly unique.
I, for one, cannot wait for the release of the Q to lose the bulk of my samsung-i730, gain a camera and actually be able to use it with one hand. I'm guessing the price will be either $399 or $499 w/ a two year contract.
Lets pick a color, black or silver...not both.
There are Q bus stop ads all over Michigan Ave in Chicago - started appearing this week.
haha, this would have been nice maybe 1-2 years ago, but it is so outdated now...
I think the screen definitely tops off the "pathetic" factor
You just need to upgrade your i730 to WM5 like I did, one hand operation is just fine. From what Engadget had said the Q sounds like crap.
This device was originally announced July 2005.
You have to wonder.... what problems did they encounter with this that would have forced them to announced a product 9 months ago and today we still see no sign of it?
I personally would not like to be one of the first people to buy this and would rather wait for future product revisions as more of these are put through the mass production process.
i would have ran out an bought one had it been available back then... or even if the original "december 2005" release date had held true.. now, i don't know, i really don't know...
We have a bunch of these things at my work and I am not that impressed. I'd rather have the WizardMDA8125.
I just dont get all the buzz over this phone....
hmm i wonder what verizon will cripple this time?
to poster #3 the nokia's E60 and E70 look so much better. and yes i too am yawning
This thing came out sooooo late. It is not even exciting anymore especially with Verizon launching it. Verizon is very insensitive to customers anyway so they may cripple this thing. I'm so not impressed, the darn thing is late and I already went ahead and purchased the MDA from T-Mo. Looking forward to the Nokia E60 ..Now that's a phone. And please Verizon, get your sticky, grubby paws of the N60.
Verizon suxors
The Moto Q is really going to make a dent against the BlackBerry.
I still can't believe the keyboard isn't back-lit. What joker designed this thing?

the keyboard is backlit. what the hell are you smoking?
May 22? Maybe this will be like the 700w press conference and the Q won't be out for another 4 months. This thing was cool a year ago but it's too little too late.
I want my Nokia E70. Now. Please... ;)
I just logged in here to read about the new projected release date for the Q. You people have way too much time on your hands! I've never seen so much whining about something you probably werent going to buy anyway. While Motorola probably was a bit premature in announcing the phone, I for one am glad theyve held it back to get it right, rather than release it full of bugs. That will kill a product a lot quicker than a few missed release dates.
Most of the general public hasn't even heard about this phone, so they aren't going to be so cynical about it. I suspect that its coolness factor will attract people in droves.
So if you like the Q and can afford it, buy it. If you dont, then go buy your Treo or BB or whatever electronic device will pacify your poor pathetic existence!
BTW, dont need a Smartphone but want a super cool phone? The SLVR L7! Way awesome!
If thsi phone had Wifi it would be worth considering otherwise why would someone want to get it (instead or a Teo 700 or Blackbery 7130).
I wish Motoraola spent $15 more and put in wifi like UTstarcom so those of us who need a gig of data could use a card plus have wifi.

I think all the tech geeks out there don't understand why a phone that is offering features that Treo and BB offered 2 years ago is generating so much buzz. Allow me to enlighten you - the Q looks cool (well, at least until it was Verizon-ized), and more importantly, has a small form factor. Relative to the Q, the Treo is a brick and even the phone-form-factor 7100 is twice as thick. Now, you may not care about the size and whether your smartphone matches your pocket protector, but there are a lot of people who want to be able to slip the phone into their pocket and not have the unsightly bulges that Treos and BBs produce.
Too bad it got Verizoned. Anyways, does anyone know if it would be possible to unlock the phone, and if so would it be compatible for the Sprint network???
I'm glad Verizon gets it first. They get to be the paying crash testers and us GSM folk will receive the infintiely better version by the winter. Just hold on to your RAZRs for a little longer fellas.
When Verizon releases this is it just gona be the silver one? Anyone have any idea when the black ones gona come out if not with the original release date?
