Samsung's 19-inch CX919B boasts 2000:1 contrast ratio
With so much focus on
response time these days, it's nice to see Samsung play up another aspect of its newest 19-inch LCD, namely the
display's impressive 2000:1 contrast ratio. That's not to say the SyncMastermagic CX919B has a slow refresh rate -- to
the contrary, it seems to employ the CX917B's "Response Time
Accelerator" to go from gray to gray in a zippy 2-milliseconds -- rather, the highlight here just happens to be
that "Dynamic Contrast" technology which promises to deliver truer blacks. Besides these two key details,
however, not much else is known on the specs tip -- including our old favorites, pricing and availability.

I use CRT monitor too, maybe it's old, but not bad. LG F700b 17 inch, i think this is enough.

They should have used a hotter "japanezo" model, and you know there are much hotter ones out there. Like "Fuk Me" and "Fuk Yu" from Austin Powers. Oh yea...
..so, umm, what's this article about...

why do LCD manufacturers even bother to make 4:3 displays anymore? I haven't bought a screen in the past 3 years that wasn't widescreen, and won't ever again.

Why is there always an asianphile response everytime there is pic of asian woman?
Engadget needs to clean up their act

Well... Samsung is a Korean company... so Asian models are a given... >.>...

Quoting the contrast ratio without the maximum brightness value is meaningless.
DC @ May 3rd 2006 6:02PM
About those contrast ratios: is there some universally accepted standard for measuring this value, or do we simply believe whatever the manufacturer claims?
ric @ May 4th 2006 1:15PM
we all know this place is run by asianphiles and one of its's co founder is one. doesn't mean this place should turn into asian porn site

You guys need to get laid. I just bought this monitor (well, the specs and look are the same, different model number -- 931BF) two days ago. Looks sweet on my desk. I'll turn it on tonight and put it through its paces.

I've got one. I got it on sale from Circuit City with my Gateway (also on sale) way before they went bankrupt. Well, about 6 months before it was announced, anyway.
I have had video problems from the start.
It flickers and the hue changes. The tint. As if I am looking at it with tinted sunglasses, and then it flickers back. There is no rhyme or reason to it, no notable precipitating factors or demands. It sometimes runs for a good long time without doing it, other times it does it incessantly. Totally inconsistent.
Well, I sent it all back to Circuit City, and they had the ability to check things out there, both the computer and the monitor, so they could determine which it was - even though I'd only bought an extended warranty on the computer.
First, they told me that maybe it was the video card, and they were going to have to send it off further for more testing. Then they said nothing was wrong with it, that they had been incapable of duplicating it, and to come pick it up. Oh, yea, and that it must have been my fault for not having the monitor securely plugged into the computer.
Well, I had a friend of mine plug it in this time, who had greater strength in his arms and better vision, and it has still done this intermittently, incessantly, at its own will.
But there's nothing wrong with it.
Right.
I figure at some point something will burn out or up and I'll know.
Meanwhile, Gateway already had to replace the hard drive which fried itself on its own which at first they denied, and mailing the computer to Texas for that cost me another hundred bucks!
SIGH.
