Blackberry 7130 gets real, FCC style
Thank you for
once again making our lives interesting, oh gracious FCC. Your freshly unearthed filings from Research in Motion have
divined us a small bounty of BlackBerry 7130s, which
turned out to be where those other pics of the Cingular 7130
popped up from. Including the already launched 7130e, we've got four models on our hands now with the 7130c, 7130g,
and 7130v. Each of the GSM devices should have quad-band EDGE as per the filing, as well as Bluetooth 2.0, 64MB flash
and 16MB RAM, and the usual mini USB port. We'll let you know more as these things get prices and launch dates -- we're
assuming it won't be too long now that the cat's out of the very holey FCC bag.

I support blackberrys and the 7130 has turned out to be a real nice device, the only complaint ive found is an issue where the device has a flaw where it keeps going into out of service mode. There is a Critical Update that you have to load onto the blackberry before connecting it to a data network. The newer blackberrys look to come over updated but ive had several lately that arnt.

I've seen this one "in the wild". Definitely looks nice. I thought the 8700 would be my first blackberry but I might have to wait for this one.

Regarding Post #1... chris i have experienced this problem as well. i thought it was caused by the networking switching to and from EVDO.
Where do you get the patch from?

We receive the update from our data service provider, PBS. We download the update and let it sync with desktop manager and update, and then we enterprise activate the blackberry on the network.

Notice the IR port on the side? Wonder if these will be the multimedia berries that have been talked about, I do know the 7290 has an IR but inactive.

I have been a Blackberry fan for a while, but the lack of support for anything other than plain text is really testing my loyalty. Now, I am sympathetic to claims that plain text is actually better for a myriad of reasons. However, it has gotten to the point where a lot of email messages are turning up unreadable on Blackberries if they are of format "multipart/mixed." This has become a particular problem recently with Gmail, whose rich text format sends all its email in that format. Such emails frequently (though not always) come up as unreadable attachments.
Numerous people are having this problem, and I have called it in to T-Mobile and Blackberry (through second tier support) and written it in to Gmail, but with no satisfactory response from anybody. It certainly is making me consider leaving the brand, and is not what I would have expected from the wireless email leader.
