Casio has just
announced a new member of the Exilim family, a 5 megapixel shooter with 3x optical zoom called the EX-Z5. Successor to
the Exilim EX-Z4, the new Z5 also sports a 2.5-inch TFT LCD (but as usual, no optical viewfinder), an odd 8.3MB of
internal memory (expandable via SD/MMC), and the usual suite of burst mode, in-camera image enhancement, and multiple
flash options. Of special interest to photo buffs will be the Revive Shot function, which lets you take a picture of an
old photograph for the camera to perform a little digital restoration on, all without taking your photos out of the
album. No word yet on pricing or availability, but with Casio calling the Z5 a "perfect companion for the
summer," it's probably a safe bet to expect this model on shelves prior to September 21st.
8.3mb of internal memory? At 5 megapixle resolution that's about 3-4 pictures? That's pretty sad.
looks like a re-hash of the ex s500 which i own, which is a great camera.same sort of specs.same sort of vague look!
Yes, internal memory is a good benchmark for a digital camera.
Not really sure some of you guys understand what internal memory on a digital camera is used for. It's a buffer for continuous shooting. If you have a buffer that can hold 3-4 pictures and you can write 1 of them to the SD card per second, then you can take a burst of 4-5 shots the first second followed by a 1fps continuous shooting.
It's not a huge selling point for a compact camera, which is why the buffers are typically smaller than for SLR's (which *start* at around 16MB and go up from there). But a 4-5 shot burst mode is, I think, pretty standard these days.
Funny, looks just like my Kodak V550, 5mp with 32mb Internal Memory.
why they keep poducing same cameras over and over.....
all the casio cameras look same.
10 min video? no thx. kodak v550 has no limit (up to the sd card's memory, 1 gb in my case)
Don't you think the internal memory thing is pretty useless? I would rather want them to take out the internal memory to shred some more weight.
