Bluetake's BT500+ Bluetooth mouse
Well, speaking of Bluetooth mice, it looks like Bluetake's got a new wireless mouse of their own kicking around, the 700mAh rechargeable Bluetooth 1.2 compliant BT500+. We all know what these things do and how they work, so we'll leave the white plastic aesthetic and ergonomic judgement to the court of public opinion. No word so far as we can tell on price or release, but it shan't cost you all that much.[Via GeekZone]

IT'S NOT A NEW PRODUCT! This has been out for a year or more, and is the same as the rebranded. RadTech BT500. Look at my post on your recent BT mouse/keyboard thread.

This mouse looks like it was taken out ot "Transformers" the cartoon.
And what are all those buttons!? That circle button in the top of the mouse? For calling the maid maybe?
How about that strange yet atractive mouse wheel? Is that made up ot two wheels?
Price should be about +or- $50.

This has been out for more than a year. Slow news day at Engadget headquarters I guess.

The mouse was updated last tuesday. It has had the inner workings redone so now it is rechargable. The outershell on the other hand hasnt changed. They released it with the bt300. Both can be plugged in and charged in 2 hours.

Ahh, I read this wrong... I thought this article was about a Bukkake mouse.

what i really want is a laptop, bluetooth, laser mouse from logitech or microsoft. seems like such an obvious concept....yet no such creature exists.

actually this IS a new/updated product:
The original was the Bluetake BT500, this is the Bluetake BT500+
(no. 7&8 did you read your own links?)
So not brand new, but interesting all the same.
The predecessor went for ?50,- here in Germany...
umijin @ May 6th 2006 5:08AM
Hmmmm... OK - the "+" means its a new product. But the original article post didn't (and sttill doesn't) have a "+" so I assumed it was the old 500.
How about fixin' that, Ryan?
To be honest, this mouse has some more bell/whistles, but unless it tracks better it may not be worth it. Having the corded recharging will help with the poor battery life. I use rechargeables in my plain ole BT500 currently.
Ryan Block @ May 6th 2006 10:05AM
It's been fixed -- the reason the URL, title, and text were kludged was because our CMS had a bug that wouldn't allow us to use + signs. Fixed now though!

OK I visited the site and have some issues. Why AAA rechargeables, not AA? Not sure where the AAA's are in amp hours but historically they hold less charge than AA batteries. Typical NMH AA's seem to max out at 2300 amp hours. Anyone know what the biggest AAA is? On the plus side I am glad they didn't go all the way into proprietary batteries. That really would have been a stinking shame. Also, I understand the logic of it becoming its own charger and that is kind of handy... sometimes, but I bought a cordless mouse to be cordless, Duh! There are some places where a corded mouse just cannot live. I think Bluetooth has gone and trapped their own mouse, cutting out a growing part of their customer base from the get-go. While charging, it is not cordless, and the jack is sticking out the back big time so it looks to me. Of course I can continue to prepare fresh batteries for insertion as I do now but why change formats when AAs do so well for my digital camera, the clock on the wall, the TV remote etc? Its bad product planning I think.

OOPs, I meant to type AA go up to 2300 mAh. Looks like the AAA's that come with the unit are only 700 mAh! Is that per battery or all together? The rest of my comment above stands. They must have been looking for space afer including the charger. Maybe they are saving the bigger battery unit for a really new product.

This mouse is already available, has been for the last couple of weeks from radtech, in powerbook silver. They don't say "+" but it seems to be the same thing, both rechargable.
