Just in case you were concerned, we've landed safely in LA for a fanboy-filled week of E3 coverage. We've teamed up with Joystiq to bring you up to the second breaking news, keynote coverage, and in-depth interviews here on Engadget, and over at
e3-2006.joystiq.com. Sony kicks off with the first "big three" keynote around 4PM tomorrow, followed by Nintendo and Microsoft on Tuesday around 11AM and 2PM respectively. Now is the time to call out your predictions for maximum cred potential. Our bets are all set for a Sony controller design reminiscent of the Wiimote, an "oh snap" HD DVD moment from Microsoft, and an open apology by Nintendo for the Wii moniker, but maybe that's just us.

If Sony has a controller similiar to the Wii remote, they could effectively shut Nintendo down.

the sony controller? new smaller boomerang with some kind of tactile feedback different than dual-shock to get around the Immersion lawsuit issues. maybe mexican jumping beans.
SONY: Multiple Controller Styles! Dualshock 3, N64-ish but more round controller, and Boomerang controller.
Nintendo: Nintendo Wii renamed Nintendo Go!! (The two exclamations are equivalent to the i's in Wii)
Microsoft: UMPCs get the Blue Screen of Death in front of everyone. Hahaha.

Sony- there are two HD video outputs on the PS3 so that it can power VR goggles. Each eye has its own screen for a stereoscopic experience so images will be in true 3D. Of course if you don't have goggles you can still use a TV and just one video output.

I bet Sony will pull the Nintendo card and be more innnovative with their controller. I don't know what could be possibly thought of, but it will be cool. Maybe a thought controlled controller?

no really, i mean i like nintendo but, it's kind of sad to consider that a mere peripheral add-on could give all the next gen consoles the exact same functionality as the nintendo wii. And what given the oh so not advanced technology of the remotes it could be packaged for like 30-50 dollars, who knows companies may even do that to give games muti-platform support.

My picks.
Sony again dishonestly trys to pass off more pre-rendered stuff as real-time footage.
They are over trying to pretend the PS3 is a supercomputer... now it is a "quantum computer" with unimaginable quantum-like processing power that allows it to outperform all over consoles by at least a factor of quanta over any other!!!
They don't have any finalised PS3 hardware running games to show. All the demo's are run off dev hardware hidden under the booth, although the empty PS3 shells are presented to make it look like the demo's are running off them.
They rip off Nintendo's controller.
Most of the companies doing PS3 demos are actually running the 360 version, with the 360s hidden away under the booth.
They have their 1st party line up of Jap titles... Ridger Racer DieAllReady, Tekken SoOverIt, Final Fantasy IfOnly.
Grand Turismo is announced for the PS3 as coming soon... it never does.

my predictions are:
- Sony will show ALOT of exclusive titles not yet announced, along with the internal HDD being officially announced. Games will be PLAYABLE and they will look amazing.
- Nintendo will prove that the Wiimote is not just a gimmick, but a new form of entertainment. (insert joke here) And i HOPE they show some form of MARIO on the Wii along with strong third-party support.
- Microsoft will show off the HD-DVD drive. The Halo 3 trailer will cause mass fanboy hysteria. Microsoft will tout all their games trailers being shown as ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE, just to emphasise that they don't show CG like their competitors (ahem, SONY, ahem)
Ten things that i think will happen at E3
1.Sony will release new controller
2.360 upgrades such as new processor and new HD DVD drive that uses USB connection (no one wants to void there 360 warrenty now so they....)
3.Final fantasyIII will be a playable download for the DS
4.Sony trys to give us more crappy firmware or $$300 acessores for the psp when we could make our own for way less as done
5.Nintendo Shows us and lets us play metroid PrimeIII
6.Sony brags once more like last year at E3 about there all mighty cell processor witch probably sucks
7.People love Nintendos new controller once they play demo of Metroid(after all the flaming wars....)
8.Microsoft shows Halo3 preview, people will go crazy for the Halo franchise once again with Halo3 winning best game of the year awards once again.
9.New games for DS a new wario or a new orignal Nintendo charecter have a new game and nitnendo only showing a 5 second preiview like they did last year of the new side scroll Mario witch was just released.
10.Nintendo show more DS acessories like more on web browser and tv tuner witch won't cost you a arm and a leg to even get one.

Nobody ever answered is that 4PM eastern or Pacific for the Sony conference.
This is the biggest E3 in Sony's history. If they deliver all they promised they'll blow the 360 out of the water...if not, they will have a tougher time beating out the boys from Redmond this time.

Nintendo: 'Wii' will be bundled with 2 controllers, in line with the two 'i's in the name. Given the amount of explanation they have given to the symbolism of the two 'i's, it would be false advertising if they didn't.
Note to fanboys: Nintendo will redefine how games are played, making them more fun. Its not about the graphics. If it was, the NES would have been a flop...

STFU nooby Billy. Nokia N-Gage will display a new lineup of cellphones that will play current N-Gage games and next-generation mobile games. The N-Gage has a faster processor than the Nintendo DS ... it's 2.2 inch screen is the biggest problem atm.
