@ 48 - In defence of Bridge.
Lets go through your spelling and grammar mistakes?
Firstly, always begin a sentence with a capital.
"Hey" not "hey".
When writing a persons name, make sure you write it in capitals again.
"Bridge" not "bridge".
Other mistakes:
"you're" not "youre"
"they're" not "theyre"
"English" not "english"
So before ranting on about Bridge, please check your own ability to write,
You forgot to add: blatent should be blatant.
Sony is doing the same as microsoft, in there design of the PS3 what with the two different versions.
The only problem I see with creating a blu-ray drive, is what if neither of the formats actually succeed. Sony right now is making a very expensive gamble assuming that plain ol' DVDs will be replaced relatively soon. And although there drive is out there, what might just happen is the lack of support for it early on, and it could easily become a dead format, as many people might find the idea of buying a game system to be kinda much to play a format.
But again, it's whatever, they can remove features, add features, and do a whole lot of other stuff, it will still sell, at least initially. I'll be anxious to see what kind of crap the analysts think up on who will win the console war.
Strange how you say that the xbox fans arent wanted here and how we dont know what we're talking about ... yet the fact is theirs alot more people this year speaking out against sonys arrogance and stupidity this year than last ALOT more ... so perhaps those ps3 lovers that cant admin that sony's got issues i mean even ken katurgi looked depressed when he finally came on stage lol ... why did he look depressed he knew he was about to announce something that Wii already has and that Nintendo announced long ago...

This is perfect looking, but who knows what the interior will include? Probably there will be loads of upgrades from Sony till the production starts.I think Sony will be on top of microsoft regarding the PS3 vs. Xbox. Xbox is not as good and will never be close to Sony....Bet the PS3 will be a perfect gaming console...and not only that but Sony has perfect controllers not as the fatty microsoft ones.

Upconvert better be a word! It's video jargon used to refer to converting a low resolution SD (Standard Definition) video signal to a higher resolution HD (High Definintion) video signal. I use 'upconvert' at work almost everyday when I'm upconverting video for HD editing.

Can any of you guys actually try get a point across that doesn't end in your dummy being spat out?
I'm neither a fanboy or a hater of any company. I think it's important to keep as many systems alive as possible because the competition between companies benefits all of us gamers, whether we have every system, or just one.
As a gamer, you should want the PS3 to be successful just as you hope the 360 and Wii remaine competitive. Do you really think that Nintendo would keep inovating in order to distinguish itself from the other companies if they were the only console manufacturer in existence? If you ask me, the best thing to happen to Nintendo was the creation of the PSOne... it through them from the top spot, forced them to go in different directions.
Personally, I'll be picking up every system because I have the money to do so. I realize that each system is unique in it's own way, and offers things that the others don't. As a true gamer, I can't discriminate against any company because I'd be depriving myself of gaming experiences.

Just to correct this as well. It's not "Vii" its' "Wii".
Nintendo's far more advanced implementation tracks motion and position in space while the Playstation Thwii.. wannabee does not. There is simply no comparison. The Playstation "innovation" is actually just a rip off of 6 year old MS/Logitech technology that went nowhere because consumers wern't interested. So I guess YES, that 'tilting crap' has been around for ages and now it's being pushed as a major 'innovation' *cough* B**llS***t *cough* for the PS3 by Sony.
It's actually a hugely embarrasing lame 'feature' even before taking into account the dropping of the more popular 'rumble' feature, but I'm sure some Sony marketing goon can spin it for you into acceptable form. Maybe they can go on about how it allows you to play games in the 4th dimension... oh, wait!
Whats up with everyone I know (and most of you guys for that matter) and caring what about what a console looks like. The boomerang controller looked weird yes, but why do you care? It looked very comfortable from a hand stand point and theres nothing wrong with the old controler design. As long as it is a good console I could give a sh1t what it looks like, what its name is, etc.

Ok, yeah the machine isn't as nice looking as the Wii or the X360. The controller is a knockoff of the last one except they added what the Wii and the X360 have with motion sensing and that center button and 4 lights. The price is outrageous.
However, I'll still sell my soul to buy one. Who cares about specs and design. I thought that the PS2 was the single ugliest thing I had ever seen other than the Xbox. When it came out I thought the price was high, higher than I had ever paid for a system, but it had the GAMES. Why is no one talking about the GAMES.
Did you see the clip of upcoming games. GT4, Metal Gear Solid 4, and there will be new final fantasy titles for it. Isn't that enough to justify a large quantity of the cost, then throw in Blue-Ray and a Cell processor.
Sony may be shooting themselves in the foot with using the expensive Blu-Ray, and using the ridiculously low yield cell processor, but most likely in the end, they will end up ok because of the amazing games.
I'll buy one, and maybe a Wii too.
I'm a professional who nets 150k a year. I've got a lot of expensive toys and plenty of spare money. A 62" HDTV and all the extras.
But $600 for the ps3 isn't gonna fly with me. It's just not that much better (if at all) than the xbox360. I'm not seeing the "value". Just cause I have spare cash, doesn't mean I want to throw it away needlessly.
I think sony is going to be hard pressed to find enough children with parents THAT spoiled to dump the 1k+ that this thing will cost them after buying some games a service contract and the necessary extras.
With the pricepoint Sony has set, the game is over. Microsoft and Nintendo are going to go home winners. Sony is looking at some serious problems (at least in the American market).

I own a 360 and it's okay. It's not the second coming of consoles or anything. The PS3 doesn't seem to be that much improved over the 360 either. It's not worse but that much better either, so it's a stalemate. What does this mean exactly? Nintendo has a great opportunity to shine here and POSSIBLY (caps for emphasis) overtake both Sony and MS. The Wii has it's weaknesses for sure, but if one thing Nintendo is good at it's making great games that are still fun even if it doesn't have the greatest graphics.
can i get a little originality from big Sony? First they have yet to change the name of the system only relying on sequential #ing to deviate one system to the next, then they essentially have the same controller as the PS2-shock+gyroscopic control, which brings me to the obvious late inclusion of the tech after a competitor impliments it, and then they can't come up with any sort of new or unique font to put on the system instead relying on their own Spiderman movie font. The online content I won't bash on b/c it looks pretty neat and is free so you can't complain their but the rest of the stuff come on Sony use some imagination.

I look forward to the release of the console, im not a big gamer but i'll def be pre ordering one, despite the high price. Why? Because I want one, all you people who feel its gonna crash due to the price need to realise something, for the first 6 months of release only the people who want to drop that much cash, or the people who have so much cash to waste will buy it, then sony will drop the price of the console so more people buy it, its always happened like that. Plus 330 for a console isnt that much, hell people spend more than that on mobile phones. Also the black colour looks nice, although they do need to add a bit of chrome to it

Face it, here is Sony's plan, in chronological order:
1. Price the unit so high so that early adopters/rich people would get a piece of the pie. At this time, there will be no "blockbuster" titles out yet.
2. Lower the price by $50. No good titles out yet.
3. Lower the price furthermore until PS3 hits it's sweet spot ($349). Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid set to release. Massive sales follow.
4. Lower the price even more. Slim-line PS2 will be discontinued.
5. Hardware revision to make the PS3 even smaller. Lower the price even more to $199. Plans for PS4 announced.
6. PS3 discontinued.

The reason people keep hating on companies like sony and microsoft is that they are threatened that their wiis arnt big enough to play with the next gen consoles. And guess what, its true. The wii is NOT competing with the ps3 or the 360. They said so themselves, so all you nintendo fanboys, get the hell out of the PS3 comments. We dont need your trolling here.
And to those people complaining of the font...ITS A FUCKIN FONT! Give me a break. Im probably not even going to buy a PS3 at launch, and i already have a 360, but jesus, have you run out of things to complain about soo badly that you need to rag on the font? And on to the controller, first you complainers said it was too boomerang like and different and that they should have just kept the dual shock 2 controller. So they did what most companies dont, and they actually listened to you. Now you complain that its not innovative enough? They managed to fit gyro-shit, blueray, pitch, yaw, a battery pack and whatever else into the good old ps2 controller. Id say thats pretty damn innovative, and impressive.
I'll probably get one eventually. In a couple of years maybe.
I'm usually an early adopter but not when it comes to game consoles. As with the PS2, it'll eventually come down in price or at least inflation will make it seem so. More and better games will also be available by then.
You'd think they would change the controller after all these years...and the rest of the general shape...
Well i dont know if the 60 gb has a lot of new feautures but if is only more hard drive, buy a hard drive separately is cheaper

I think when its eventually launched it will be to late the xbox 360 will have to much of a grip, it will only do well in japan and then it will die out as japanese people see great games on the xbox360 they will be tired of waiting for ps3 content ,the only game that looked good was assassins creed and if it comes out on the 360 what else does ps3 have because turismo game looked crap compared to project gotham on the xbox 360
