After swearing to the Nintendo booth staff that
yes we bow at the feet of Miyamoto,
no we've never touched a Sony device before in our lives, and
yes we'd like to skip the mile long line to see the Wii, we managed to find ourselves in Nintendo's special little (or not so little) Wii paradise. There were playables galore, though that "27 playable titles" they
mentioned at the keynote was a bit misleading. Sure, you could grab a Wiimote and start making a fool of yourself in any one of 27 different ways, but most of the playable stuff was actually just a tech demo or a mini game. Luckily, the big names like Zelda, Mario and Red Steel were there in force, and the good times were aplenty even with the tech demos. We'll have our impressions of the Wiimote pretty soon, but for now we've got a whole slew of pics from the booth, so take a look.
The Wiimote
It looks good, it feels good, but how does it play? In truth, we can't say we were blown away. Sorry to tease, we'll have our full impressions up soon, but for now feel free to ogle.

The Vritual Console screens were supposedly just mockups, and may not necessarly represent the Wii interface, or the Virtual Console interface -- so don't be surprised if these change shape.

More to come!
This will be the greatest Nintendo Console Launch in history. Bring on the release date!!
the pictures with the NES , SNES , and Sega games does that mean the Wii will have old time games u can buy or something to play on it!?
I read that the price will be under $200 USD .. WOW that's EXCITING!!!
Actually, regarding the sensor bar. If they provide a mechanism to calibrate the tv's location to the sensor bar, the bar would not have to be located above, below, beside, or anywhere else specifically.
They could make a calibrator where you put the remote on upper-left and lower-right corner for example. This would work as long as you don't move the bar or else it would need to be recalibrated.
I expect you will need to have a calibrator anyway, otherwise how would it know if you placed it above or below and what size tv you had.
Overall the 'Wii' system looks great. Can't consider myself a fanboy, only cuz i've owned just about every system since Atari. But a definate addition!
The D-pad would probably be useful in situations that require you to only that half of the controller, such as in the golfing game. Two hands...one contoller...duh!
It looks like you HAVE to play the Wii standing... I mean seriously, after a long days work, I just want to sit down and play tennis, not break a sweat... didn't they realize that games were made for lazy people?!
49. the pictures with the NES , SNES , and Sega games does that mean the Wii will have old time games u can buy or something to play on it!?
You know... Is it just me or does this e3 looked so damn futuristic? Heck, the Nintendo booth looked sexy. Nobody else thinks so? Everybody seems its normal? Fine... I guess I'll join you guys in the 21st century
I got to play it at E3 both days. I was blown away. I wasn't too interested in this console before trying it, now I'm counting the minutes to release. The sports games were amazing to play.
I want more information on the Wii classic controller and what its used for.
I don't know why Nintendo changed the name from the Revolution(cool sounding) to the Wii(wierd), but im not complaining because the consol is still the same. I mean it is just a name and is not that big of a deal. The controllers "are" revolutionary due to the fact that no one else has anything like them(except Sony, cuz they stole it as soon as Nintendo annoucned they had them). The games for the Wii look impressive for no HD or BluRay technology. I just cant wait until Nintendo announces's a release date and a price!!
The only controller ports on the Wii are 4 Gamecube ports. Hopefully, they'll fit the adaptor for my Wavebird, as I have a feeling that I'll be finishing RE4 on my Wii this fall.
