We've heard just about every date imaginable for the long-awaited launch of the Palm Treo 700p, so nothing will really shock us now. But according to CNET, the 700p is due to arrive next Monday, May 15th. That's nearly two weeks earlier than the
last rumored launch date we heard about, May 28th, but is consistent with
earlier rumors that pointed to a Sprint rollout next Monday. At this point, we won't be surprised if both dates turn out to be correct, with an announcement on Monday, and availability in Sprint stores on the 28th.

Will I be able to use this puppy on Verizon's CDMA network?
Matt @ May 11th 2006 12:14AM
The CNET article says only that the 700 will be "unveiled" on Monday -- not that it will be released. This has been the rumor all along.
Gerdy @ May 11th 2006 1:10AM
Sprint's network is CDMA so it shares towers with Verizon
and it will be released May 28th

Palm OS 5? Why would anyone buy it?
Christophe @ May 11th 2006 3:58AM
Does anybody know when the Palm Treo 700 will be available in Europe ?
Treo Fan @ May 11th 2006 5:17AM
can't wait to buy it!

Palm OS 5? Why would anyone buy it?
Cuz even though it is long in the tooth, it is still better than WinMo 5. The real selling point is EV-DO.
supersocialist @ May 11th 2006 9:37AM
Amen, CRH. We still love POS5 because even in spite of its instability, it's generally a more pleasant operating experience than WM5 is, let alone the outdated WMs on older phones. Palm is more consistent across versions, although there are subtle differences; switching versions of Windows CE is almost like learning a new OS in comparison. It's the same reason iPods sell by the millions while more capable players languish on the shelves and shuffle out of business, and it's the same reason Windows still beats Linux on the desktop, and OS X is cutting into Windows: interface trumps (almost) everything.

To the person who loves the BB8700c how in the world do you not see a treo being better? you donwload "chatter-mail" and a treo becomes the "always on" same phone but 100x better! Treo 650 and soon to be treo 700p for life!
but yes I do hate the treo 700w

When Palm gets a major OS update, adds Wi-Fi, Windows Media streaming (Sirius, XM) and a Sling Mobile player, I will switch back. Until then, EVDO isn't enough for me. I'm very happy with my PPC-6700 (saying this as a Palm user since 1999).
Steven Silverman @ May 11th 2006 10:15AM
But does anyone have info. on when it will arrive for Cingular?
email me: StevenSilverman@emailtreo.com
Jnetty @ May 11th 2006 10:47AM
What are the most important differences between the 650 and 700p? I have the Treo 650 with Cingular. Been happy with it. Would love Wifi support.
MG @ May 11th 2006 1:20PM
People- chill out. The launch date for the Sprint Treo 700p and the Blackberry 7130e still stands at May 28.
sygyzy @ May 11th 2006 2:27PM
I wonder if the 700p is going to be as terrible as the 650p. I have never seen a device that requires you to buy a $15 third party software app just to be able to make your calls audible.
