Acer's 32-inch AT3205-DTV LCD reviewed
We know there are a ton of Brits anxiously waiting to hear whether Acer's 32-inch AT3205-DTV LCD, at only $1,888 dollars, is really such a bargain, so we won't keep you in suspense: according to Trusted Reviews, it most certainly is. Truth be told, the picture actually sounds like it leaves something to be desired -- black levels and fine detail aren't the best -- but they seem to fall in the acceptable range, and the 1366 x 768 screen apparently delivers vibrant colors and good brightness levels. Other plusses include the built-in Freeview tuner (no CI slot for adding subscription content, though), powerful-for-a-flat-panel sound system, and a plethora of connection options, including HDMI and DVI, component, three SCART ports, and digital audio out. So, if you can deal with some slightly gray blacks and a bit of a, um, bold design, then fear not, British friends, because your quid will be well spent on the Acer.

How could this be a bargain, when the Westinghouse 37w3 is 5 inches bigger, full 1080p resolution, and at the same price?
Alex @ May 15th 2006 9:56AM
Sorry, should have said the Westinghouse is *cheaper*, at $1549. By comparison, this Acer blows...

Westinghouse aren't available in _THE UK_. This is about the best LCD TV for price vs. performance _IN THE UK_. _THE UK_ has pretty crap deals compared to the US.
RTFA.

"at only $1,888 dollars"? It's too too expensive!

Well quite frankly, I wouldn't recommend anyone in the market for a large LCD screen to purchase a low-res version like this Acer. I am looking into purchasing the Spectre X37SV-Naga which is a 37" LCD TV with all of the specs you can imagine, AND 1920 x 1080 native res!! Personally, I don't see the point in buying an LCD with anything less than 1080p res. Gotta be ready for the future!

Comparing the prices of the top-tier brands sold in the United Kingdom this LCD TV IS a bargain. so thouse who DO NOT live there, don't actually know what's a bargain.

Hey, heres a question: When are they going to make tvs that are the actual resolution of the picture your watching? 1280x720 maybe?

Is it too expensive to import a TV from the US to the UK?
fj1200 @ May 15th 2006 4:15PM
It's not a matter of price, it's simply the fact that US TVs (NTSC or ATSC) will not work with the PAL TV system over in the UK. so there is no point in importing one. And until someone comes out with a cheap standards convertor, the UK and the rest of Europe will be stuck with paying over the odds.

How about a ViewSonic 32" which gives an HD signal to drool over and plays my 360 in glorious 720p? (oh, the standard speakers are pretty decent as well)
All for $800.00. You could buy two of em.
Admittedly, the on-screen menu is a total, unbelieveable, unthinkably despicable POS -ed.

I actually just got my Acer AT3705-DTV today, can't wait to get home and give it a try. $1750cdn for the 37" so pretty decent deal
