Sprint gets last laugh, shipping 700p before VZW
We've been really tossed every which way on this "who's shipping the 700p first" debacle, but it looks like Sprint wins in the end. Even though Verizon just "announced" 700p availability, their phones are shipping shipping in 3-4 weeks, while Sprint is still on track for the end of this month. These ship dates are from Palm itself, and we think they'd be in the know if anyone is, so we're going to put our necks out one more time and proclaim Sprint as the (probable) first to ship the 700p.

P.S - Whether I'm first or not, I'm too cool to point it out. Take a hint all you losers who are all like 'first post'. Ha.

"shipping shipping"?
Craig @ May 23rd 2006 12:55AM
i really hate it when people make generic comments like "verizon blows" and "apple sucks" without saying why. they don't seem to have any particular beef; they just want to love their camp and hate the competition.

Verizon has been slow compared to most other vendors on the Treo 600 and the Treo 650. It took them 9-12 months after Sprint was already shipping.
Ignoring the 700w this is really impressive for Verizon to even be listed as weeks behind.
Phil @ May 23rd 2006 2:25AM
I went to Verizon today, and you can order it via the web or 800 number and have it shipped immediately, or the stores will have them June 1. That's what they told me anyway.
nonobeez @ May 23rd 2006 2:54AM
last week Palm did not even have the Sprint 650 in stock but it was readily availble from Sprint.
This week, there is a one week wait for Sprint 650 phones... do you really think only Palm carries them?
Verizon 700P starts shipping from Verizon tomorrow... overnight!!

Sprint.....#1 in dropped calls!

Hey Nonobeez, are you sure about the 700p overnight shipping from Verizon? I went to Verizon Wireless, and went through the steps to purchase and saw shipping as two to five business days.

Isn't it possible that the reason it's going to take 3 to 4 weeks for the Verizon Treo 700p to ship from Palm is because Verizon bought so many of them from Palm and now they're on backorder? I'll bet Verizon has a bunch sitting in their warehouse.
Mark Allred @ May 23rd 2006 9:24AM
Called Verizon today and the customer service rep. reviewed my order and said the stock is due in the warehouse later today and will be shipped out right after that. Of course, when I called yesterday, they said they had 20,000 in stock and will be shipping beginning on Wednesday.
We will see but if so, way to go Verizon!
Jake Kohlar @ May 23rd 2006 9:36AM
I've been with Sprint, Verizon and Cingular and I have never in my life had a dropped call, outside of driving in a tunnel or maybe driving through a wooded area. I don't get it when people say anything about dropped calls. If you are not in a good location, you misuse your phone, or your phone sucks to begin with, nothing will get through; that's just common knowledge people. Try something new for a comment next time.
Steven @ May 23rd 2006 9:36AM
No 700p for me. *Hopefully* big discounts on the 650, here I come!
thought @ May 23rd 2006 10:19AM
Just because Palm is shipping the Verizon 700p later, doesn't mean that Verizon doesn't have plenty of stock.
I know some who've ordered and they were told they'd receive them through normal shipping in a few days, as normal.
To judge the availability from the Palm website is a joke. The key is the carrier.
Dave @ May 23rd 2006 12:34PM
When's the 700w coming to Sprint?
prickly pete @ May 23rd 2006 12:51PM
Does Sprint and / or Verizon phones use a sim card yet?
Like T-Mobile and AT$T(cingular).
shadowdub @ May 23rd 2006 1:42PM
Sprint sucks because their customer service reps lie and are rude, plus thier coverage is not as good as Verizon's in the state of Washington. I don't care if Sprint's phones can cure cancer, they will never get another dollar from me.
npoore @ May 23rd 2006 2:48PM
I called verizon and the guy I talked to was pretty clueless on the technical questions pertaining the DUN capabilites verizon is going to allow on their network. I finally got to talk to a technical guy and he said that verizon is going to allow DUN but for an additional monthly charge. He didn't know the details of the charge but said it would be similar to what they offer for their blackberry 7100 users which is an extra $15 a month on top of the unlimited data fee you are paying for the phone usage, which is $44.99/month I think.
tonkadu @ May 24th 2006 11:44AM
I ordered one from verizon online on monday. my order is shipping today and should be here tomorrow. so much for palm's announcement.
