Apple and Nike launch $29 Nike+iPod Sport Kit

Maybe the third time's the charm. After rolling out branded MP3 players with Rio and Philips, Nike has now partnered with Apple for its next music-on-the-go solution. But instead of launching another Nike-branded player, the sneaker company is focusing on athletics by working with Apple to roll out the iPod Sport Kit, a $29 device that includes a sneaker-based sensor that combines with another sensor attached to the iPod to allow users to enter and view workout data using the iPod's menus. The iPod Sport Kit will only work with certain compatible shoes, including the new Nike Air Zoom Moire. Audio prompts can also be configured to provide workout info such as distance and time, and workout data can be uploaded to a Nike web site for analysis and comparison with other runners. The iPod Sport Kit is expected to be available within 60 days and will work with the iPod nano.

does the nike plus sport chip work with the ipod mini? because i bought the ipod mini right before they stopped selling them and came out with the nano. if not they should make one for the ipod mini cause it cost me four hundred and fifty dollars for the six gigabyte one!

I have this kit and love it. Just for everyone's info, you do NOT need the Nike shoe to use it. I at first, with an exacto knife, cut a whole into my New Balances, underneath the insole. But with my new running shoes, I just used a little "pouch" that goes in the shoelaces to keep the sensor in place. It works perfectly!!!

To add to my above posting: Marware makes a armband for the nano that fits the 1st and 2nd Generation Nano w/ the Nike+ adaptor. It also comes with a small pouch for the sensor so you can place it on ANY shoe. I just ordered it, hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

So...This nike plus is only supported on a nano ipod. I don't want to go buy a whole new ipod just to run...Is there anyway I could make it compatable with my regular ipod?

Hi,

I'm based in the UK and it's a nightmare to find any guidance in the UK on Nike +. However, I want in!!!

1 question - Can i use nike + with my 4G standard ipod (60GB). I've used this on the running machine loads of times with no -probs.

Any guidance you can give is appreciated!!
