Treo 700p shows up on Sprint's site
Oh Treo 700p, we feel we've known ye for months -- maybe that's because we have. Here we have Sprint finally showing availability on their site for the device, failing to making good on its promise to ship before Verizon -- but we'll take what we can get, right? Available now for the princely sum of $429.99 with contract. Grab yours before it gets taken down, goes on backorder, or otherwise disappears without a trace.

Who care's just one more poorly designed gizmo that will never have a large market because of it lack appeal.
Yeah, I'm gonna order one! Bye bye Treo 600!
Palm OS has left the building...a while ago.
$429 plus contract rates to talk on a phone. Life was much simpler back when I was young and all we had were rotary dial phones from ma bell. (sigh)
Cost more than Verizon too. Verizon has their for $399.99 after one instant saving (New customers only though. $499.99 for people who are upgrading. Sucks >_
Also it only cost $619.99 retail, so in my opinion Sprint is selling the phone for more than what its worth.
I ordered my Treo 700p from Verizon on Wednesday night at about 11pm on their website(the only way you can get it currently). I am a current customer who's agreement was up. I agreed to a 2 year contract and my Treo 700p was $399. Not to mention it was at my doorstep by 10am Friday morning...via free Fed-ex overnight shipping.
So the reports about the 3-4 week wait from Verizon and Sprint being first by a long shot, are as usual, false. The fact only new customers can get it for $399, is also false.
I do not know where you "journalists"/bloggers get your info.
$429 vs $199 for the Q on Verizon...hmm...
Or one could buy a BlackBerry 8700c for FREE with a two year contract at Amazon:

#7 I purchased the Treo 700p for $499.99 plus tax and it did not state that I was getting a $100 instant saving, and at checkout there was no $100 off.

This was ordered online a few hours before I posted. I even called CS, they told me that only if I opened a new line, or I had a Single line Phone and Data Package, then I would get the $100 off.
Just about to order the 700p from Sprint. As a current customer, they promised me a price of $399 w/ no activation fee. This was via telesales. I was very polite and just asked them if they could match the $399 price I'd get from Verizon as a new customer. They're supposed to call me back tomorrow when I'll place my order.
Mike,
The information regarding shipping dates was from Palm's website. They had listed the Verizon Treo 700p as shipping several weeks after the Sprint Treo 700p. Even now they list Verizon as "Expected to ship in 3-5 days" and Sprint as "In stock, shipping normally".
If you have a problem with what we reported, I suggest you complain to Palm, as they were the source. We do make mistakes, but we always report the best information we have at the time we publish a post.
The 700w is an absolute piece of garbage thanks to Microsoft's crap OS. Perhaps I should have waited for this device to come out. I can't stand my 700w ... worst electronic device I've owned in my entire life.
Ditto #10...I will be receiving the phone at $399 from Sprint also. I have to wait until Tuesday afternoon to finalize the plan and such. I am a current customer who is no longer under contract. Due to this fact, other discounts will be added and is documented in the notes at Retention. Can't wait!! :)
Lotsa luck editing documents on the Q #8.
i ordered my 700p today with sprint. i have a 650 w/ vzw right now and sprint has better evdo coverage in my area. you need the 40.00 a month unlimited plan to tether, or the 25.00 varible.
Odd, I called Sprint today and the CS person didn't know anything about the 700p. After putting me on hold, she said it was only being sold online (for now?). Since I too am already on a Sprint contract, I am not eligible for all the online discounts that a new customer would be. I may visit a Sprint store tomorrow and see if they have 'em in stock. BTW, everyone who's knocking buying the 700p with Sprint because it's more expensive than Verizon seems to be forgetting that the costly Verizon data plans will eat up the initial savings in a just few months. Talk about of short-sighted cost analysis!
679.00? C'mon Sprint, You're starting to get greedy like Verizon. WTF.
I live in South Florida and was told by Sprint that the 700p would not even be able to connect to the Sprint network until some time in JULY! They also said that they would not even be selling it until mid June, but the next day it's available on their website. So, I could spend $599 (yes, as an existing customer I'm getting screwed) and get a phone which will work in roaming 90% of the time, or continue to deal with my 600 which is slowly dying. It seems like Sprint is starting to go back to their old CS ways.
The question is: will it be obselete by the time I can afford it?
