Sidekick III launches July 10th

Alright Sidekick fans, here it is, the date you've been waiting for. Contrary to the many rumors floating around about the Sidekick III's release date, no, it's not June 5th, 9th, 20th, or the 26th. We obtained some very reliable inside information that T-Mobile is actually all set to introduce the latest Sidekick iteration on July 10th. Yep, that's right kids, it looks like we're still more than a month out from launch. Sorry to be the bearers of bad news.

P.S. -We asked T-Mobile for a statement, but they declined to comment.

I estimate the price will be 399.99..

If you already have a Sidekick III you don't need to upgrade, and you likely have a test prototype.

If you have an SK2, and you want to upgrade, it will depend on what T-Mobile sets up for the upgrade path. It will almost certainly NOT be free (they didn't give the SK2 free as an upgrade from SK1, after all). The only people getting these for free are the "stars" that they give them to for advertising purposes.

The reason there's no price information: The 'very reliable sources' aren't all that reliable. T-Mobile insiders still don't know for sure. It's not on the official Upcoming Devices list that T-Mobile stores use, and as such, any dates are only about 70% likely to be correct. Even when it does get on that list, there's still a chance of the dates changing. Changes can move the date earlier or later, depending on logistics.

So, yeah. Might be out, save your money just in case, but don't expect it to be free, don't expect upgrades to be cheap at first.

As for features, per other sites, it takes an SD memory card, has a megapixel camera, has a stereo MP3 player that uses the SD card, will have video in an upgrade, has the same features otherwise that the SK2 has, but improved. And maybe the keyboard won't come off.

I'm sure it won't be free. I'm guessing if you already have one, you'll have to fork out full price for a new SKIII. Maybe they'll knock a bit off for signing a new two year agreement (which sucks, by the way). I guess we'll know in a month!

I talked to the T-Mobile manager in my area today and he told me for sure July 10th the Sidekick 3 will infact be in stories. Has an MPS plaer, its Black & Grey, Great camera, mini SD card, Bluetooth, etc... he said he has never cared for the sidekicks in the past but this one was so cool that he saw this morning he is getting the first one that comes in the store July 10th!!!! I told him I would be the second! haha

I work for T-Mobile customer care and it's going to be
offered sooner
than July 10, I know that for sure... you will need to pay for an
upgrade, the pricing will depend on how many months it's been since
your last upgrade, and if you've been on a qualifying rate plan for
11 months if your contract is a year and 22 months if it's 2 years.
The best pricing for the SK3 will be if you renew for 2 years. The renewal will be from the day you purchase the equipment, it will not be added onto the commitment you're currently on, the system doesn't allow that. It's
hot though. MP3 player, SD memory card, better camera, removable battery... And the price is so confidential, only the people very
high up know how much it will be. Employees of T-Mobile won't know
until the day it comes out and we don't even get our 20% discount on
it!!!

I'm positive that the release date is sooner than July 10. I think you will be very pleased at how close it is to today... as far as offering it in stores or not on this date I wouldn't know, but I know that 1800tmobile will have them on this date. the MDA and sidekick 3 are very different so depending on what you need the phone for will determine what phone you should have. sidekick 3 is definitely best for young people that do instant messaging, i know you can check your myspace on it, you can be logged on to msn, aol, and yahoo msging all at one time.. you can't download mp3s from the SK3 but you can transfer them from your comp through a USB cable which comes in the box. the MDA is better for professionals that need to have corporate email and be able to do word documents etc... now i am about to give u a big hint here... i would normally now say that "i dont go to work till tuesday so ill come back with info after that".. but it would be senseless because it comes out sooner than that. any other ?s i can definitely try and find info sooner than tues before it comes out.

all these people saying what the release date is. nobody knows. nobody that works in retail or customer care tmobile even knows yet. which is retarded 'cause when the sk2 came out we had a demo of the phone in our store about 2 weeks before it actually came out and we knew about the release date within the month. besides the point, they only recently posted "Watch Daily News for more information on the T-Mobile Sidekick 3." and that's all any tmobile employee knows. so i highly doubt the release is going to be july 10th.

as for the price, tmobile seems to be moving up the price on everything. look at the nokia 8801. it's a $500 phone! i'm only guessing that the sk3 will probably sell with a 2 year contract for 399.99 (if we're lucky we'll get a $50 mail in rebate). employees don't even get first dibs when they come out. the employee discount on phones hasn't even been that great. plus, sometimes it takes a couple days or even weeks for anyone within tmobile to get it at all. only if they dish out the money to buy it at the invoice price.

and who would compare the sk3 to the mda? the mda is a pda-type phone that was made with business professionals in mind. there's no such thing as a "better phone" it's what's better for you. if you're familiar with sidekick then you know what they'll offer with the new one. as for the new features? video, mp3, external memory...those are all still rumors until something is officially released.

despite the rumors though, the only thing i would LOVE is flash. but it seems like it won't. =(

But we weren't allow to say anything about the SK3 until today (June 20th, 2006). I do not know the pricing yet. I can confirm the release date will be July 10th, 2006. As posted on T-Mobile's official sidekick.com website. Current Sidekick 2 users please log on my-tobile.com and check if you qualify for an upgrade to the SK3. You will be able to upgrade starting June 28th, 2006. I did see some mention here of the Sidekick 2 supporting WIFI, it does not. It does however support EDGE, so alot of people will see a noticable difference in browsing speeds.

Well the Nokia 8801 sells for $799 on nokia.com. If tmobile selling them for $500 that is a fair dicount. I brought mine in Feb for $450.

Until the price is released by tmobile they are all rumors. They are doing research on how much people will pay for it right now.

But it should be more then sk2 which is $299

yeah so they're released. officially (in Hollywood) it's released today. they start selling through tmobile customer care on June 28th through July 9th. you don't get it right away, they deliver it to you. if you want to buy it in the store you'll have to wait until July 10th. or fly to one of these stores 'cause they're the ONLY two tmobile stores selling the SK3 starting on June 28th.

I just went to a tmobile store to renew my contract and I asked the sales rep about the sk3 and he logged on to some tmobile employee exclusive site called "streamline" and it showed everything about the sk3 EXCEPT the price. It has everything that everyones saying (bluetooth, mp3, trackball, Edge, etc.) EXCEPT Wifi and 900mhz. If you dont believe me just go to the store and ask any rep carrying an sk2 because they understand the anxiety everyone who loves sks are having. Well just thought id share.

Toady my girlfriend notfied me that her cousin who works for Tmo in New Jersey recieved a SK3 unit.I had to go out today to buy a charger for my SK2, after visting mutiple T-mo dealers I stop in the one at Macy on 34st. Looking for the charge,low and bejold the SK3 was sitting on the counter (I am thinkiig this is New York,dudes would steal your belt off your pants.)I asked could i see it, by holding it, the dealer was lil hesitive, not becuase of fear of me stealing, but not to draw to much attention and cause a mob again he said. The device was a bit slimer and a little lighter than the SK2. I was a lil afraid to play with in frears of breaking it, i was courious about the track ball.After giving back SK3 I asked about the proformance, he said he liked it. The webbrowser is much faster. He said I could bring my SK2 to the store on Madison on the 26 of this month to exchange.

I was informed that current T-mo customers will be able to get the SK 3 on June 28-July 9th... and for new customers it will be definitely July 10th...It will be the launching party.. there will be food and drinks.. as well as radio stations... They took my name and contact number down to add to their list and inform me and the others what time the launching party will be.. and NO im NOT makin this up... sidekick 3 info is up on tmobile.com, sign in, and it will tell you its avialable in cali and ny on the 26th, and you can call tmobile on the 26th, if your a tmobile customer, all others have to wait till july 10th.

Well, guys ! I treat my phones like toys. Hehe.. MY research on the Tmobile MDA, PPC 6700, and SK III. Along with many other international phones. These are my opinions on each one:
TMobile MDA & PPC 6700: It similiar to the PPC 6700 ( my bf has one and it's cool, but too much of a Business-like type of phone.
SK III: The one, I fell in love with last night, reading it's features and capabilities. It fits my personality and lifestyle, so well. I needed a phone that's like a mini laptop to access to emails and chat. The other two phones has that capabilites too, but this one, fits YOUR personality.
People who judge phones and calling other people names are the ones who are immature Phones are like cars. You should respect other people! Why am I telling others how to respect others. Oh well. My opinion is spoken . I'm getting mine soon.

I have insurance on my sidekick II.. I stupidly jumped in the pool with it and it is toast. So when I called to get it replaced they said they won't replace it with SKII because they dont make them anymore. They told me they will send me something comparable but won't guarantee that it is a SKIII.. anyone know anything about this and how it works?
