Cowon's iAudio T2
It might have been a little more appropriate if their T2 came fashioned in Liquidmetal (sorry, had to), but Cowon's latest iAudio player comes in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB sizes, and features MP3, OGG, WMA (sorry, doesn't look to be PlaysForSure), FLAC, WAV, and ASF, and your usual OLED color display, 12 hour battery, FM receiver / recorder, and voice recorder; all in a diminutive 0.5-inch thick shell that smacks more of an old school Walkman than an anti-iPod, if you ask us.

Definitely smacks of 80's retro lookswise but that doesn't have to be a bad thing...
That actually looks quite nice.
I suddenly have the Urge to pull out my old cassette collection collecting dust from my basement.
In a digital world, coming out with a retro looking player IMO that's not as good looking as an iPod, Samsung, Creative etc. may not be the best move. Unless it's priced as a retro player.
I don't understand why the Playsforsure certification is necessary. If the unit can play MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, WAV, and ASF, it will play for sure. Don't know why Playsforsure has to be mentioned at all. Not a big fan of Apple or its FairPlay either or AAC.
I've had a Cowon iAudio U2 for quite a while now and I love the little thing. They're not the most stylish chunks of plastic on the market, but I'll be damned if they aren't up there on the list of the best sounding. They're a bit under the radar it seems in the MP3 market but for the price, and the sound quality, I'd take one over an iPod any day.
wow. that looks awesome.too bad I can get it, i'm iPod only. lol. looks really nice though.
Yeah. I like it also and it has an FM radio. I refuse to buy an iPod until Apple integrates a radio into them.
jumpymathguy, PlaysForSure is not only about the plain format, it's also about DRM. THe problem is, obviously, with WMA and ASF - they don't have the DRM certification necessary for the device to be compatible with many legal music download sites.
Most serious gym buffs I know are "ga-ga" over the pendant style. Doing cardio with the carrying case attached to your waist or arm and earphones attached is a pain-in-the-butt. The pendant style makes it so much easier. One of my weight lifting buds was in the market for a new MP3 player. When I showed him a picture of the T2 and told him the release date is AUG 15th, he put off his purchase in anticipation of getting this baby.
