Pretec's iDisk USB drives go BulletProof
Sure, HP's ballistics-tested StorageWorks XP1200 server is keeping your spy operation humming on the homefront, but what happens when your agents come under fire smuggling sensitive data in the field? Storage expert Pretec knows that people want their USB drives small and secure, and now they've apparently identified a demographic who also want those drives to be virtually indestructible, as evidenced by the recent release of the iDisk BulletProof lineup. As their name suggests, these 20Mbps thumb drives -- which sport capacities between 32MB and 2GB -- are able to not only take a bullet thanks to their "double layers of sealed protective metal," but will also survive unscathed should your enemies happen to set you on fire or submerge you in water while they're shooting at you. The entire set of drives is available immediately, but before rushing out to order one, perhaps you should first step back and consider the lifestyle choices that have made bullet-resistance a feature you so highly value in your portable electronics.[Via I4U]

who cares about lifestlye choices? Make a suit of flash drives. It's:
- geeky
- protective
- stylish?
You could carry tons of data and never have to worry about being shot.
Go technology!

Doesn't Apple have a trademark on iDisk? *shrugs* Whatever.

Those tech support calls would be interesting.
"...so once i put out the fire on my clothes, I plugged in the drive. Now I get a data corrupt error."

But what good is that if it doesn't include self encryption that auto destoys the data if brute force hacking is attempted? I mean if you're that paranoid about protecting the data from damage you must also not want it to be stolen.

Bulletproof...
So instead of a hot chunk of lead in the chest cavity, we have a hot chunk of lead formed around this USB flash storage which has been driven into your chest cavity. What a nerdy hole that dug through your skin. Imagine the exit wound caused by one of these mugs.
I can see the shockproof/waterproof/fireproof appeal though

I'm thinking now they might make it through the washing machine unscathed!!!!

I once had a USB drive fall off my keychain, and get run over by a snowblower. I found it in spring in the backyard under a tree where it was thrown. It still works just fine!
