Philips announces GoGear SA9100 and SA9200 DAPs
Blu-ray players and portable media centers weren't the only thing on Royal Philips Electronics' mind today, as the company also revealed a new pair of flash-based GoGear DAPs as part of the "Holidays in June" campaign. We've already seen Philips do the flash thing before -- not to mention the hard drive thing -- but with the nano-like SA9100 and SA9200 the company has chosen to drop the low capacities of old in favor of 1GB and 2GB of storage, respectively. Both models also sport color screens for viewing photos and album art, a backlit touchpad for navigation, FM tuner, voice recorder, and a rechargeable battery promising 14 hours of playback, and both devices are also PlaysForSure-compliant. You'll be able to pick up the higher capacity model for around $200 when it hits stores next month, while the single gig unit will cost about $150 at its scheduled September release.Read- GoGear SA9100

Um does this this remind anyone of the M:Robe... I mean if Olympus couldn't match Apple design wise then how the heck can these clowns. Nice try, but just like every other POS I think I'll pass....

I'm with DS on this one, all hail iPod and its glory! Everything else is an utter failure!

I really liked the M:Robe, a friend has one, and I wouldn't mind it if it works with WMP or Yahoo Music Engine, last I heard it had proprietary software, but I'm not sure.
These look really cool, can get a lot of attention because it's attractive, but different than what people already have, I like it

I tried the GoGear hard drive model and had nothing but problems with two different units. They are extremely glitchy and I took it back and got a Creative Zen Vision:M. It's funny, the store models I see at BestBuy seem to have the same issues I took mine back for...

DS, Just for your information, Philips have it's own design centers all over Europe., The have won over 10,000 design awards from every design institute.
Apple, have only a 1 or 2 low wage losers like yourself designing their inferior low quality overprice garbage in the back of Steve Jobs toilet room.
So who are the clowns again? Apple is. the iPod, iPod Mini, iPod Nano and whatever Steve put of his ass are all overprice POS. Philips' top quality is well know wordwide for over 80-years.
With Philips you can ALWAYS be sure You'll get a ORIGINAL AND MODERN DESIGNS, for a good value without getting rip off.
Something your beloved Apple can't and will NEVER be able to achieve. And like you, i'll pass on POS like Apple and people like yourself.

Eh. 2nd Gen 20 GB iPods are available in the $75-$100 range. Why bother with this thing when I can get 10x the storage for less than half the price?
Steve @ Dec 4th 2006 11:57PM
I've got the 2 GB GoGear SA9100. I'm more than happy with it. The best part? It's not an iPod.
dush @ May 5th 2007 4:01PM

Everyone realizes that none of Philips little Hard drive or flash drive players work with Vista right? What's the point in buying something that is already behind the current OS??
