What can we say --
iPod rumors are a hot commodity, and we find it quite tantalizing when the Chairman of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. -- one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and an Apple contractor on iPod manufacturing -- starts talking about Apple's next player. According to a Bloomberg report, Chairman Terry Gou said, "Apple is about to unveil the next generation of iPod, the best-selling music player in the U.S., using a 'none-touch' concept." Ok, well, how much of that is paraphrased and lost in translation is yet to be seen, but before we take that "none-touch" concept business away and start dissecting it (obviously we're totally hoping it's a brain-interface that doesn't require touching the precious,
easily-scratched surface), we'd like to at least hone in on that bit about Apple getting ready to unveil the next iPod shortly. Enjoy, fanboys and haters.
Another one of these f--king things? How much of your parents money can you waste. As they say a sucker born every minute. Apples best scam so far, they keep making and you keep buying, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
The next generation of ipods will feature Apple Airport Extreme2 cards inside of them. They will then be able to utilize Apples wireless Bonjour technology. How will iPods use Bonjour Technology that is already featured in every Apple Portable?
*All iPods will be able to communicate with each other. In other words, if you see that cute girl on the other end of the subway and you are too shy to say Hi, you can message her on her ipod using Bonjour technology. Anyone who owns a Mac Portable knows that you can use Bonjour to exchange files, communicate, isight, and audio chat without an internet connection. Forget Wifi, its bonjour baby. You wont see an iPhone or anything of the sorts, but simply iPod now with Bonjour Technology. A Major upgrade to iChat will also follow the release of this iPod, considering iChat will now run on all iPods as well. In tandem with this release you will also see a mini QWERTY keyboard dock attachment for the ipod, the keyboard will look similar to the Trio, but sleek with the ipod. So basically you will be able to text message any iPod in a 150ft radius of your iPod. For free. Everyone wont want this.. they will need it.
* Recently Apple released an update to Front Row.. now you can stream media to front row from shared libraries using.. bonjour technology. Now since iPod will feature bonjour technology, you will be able to wirelessly stream media from your ipod to any computer with Front Row.
Ladies & Gentlemen. iPod with Airport featuring Bonjour Technology.
Nonono, you have it all wrong. The chaiman has a speach pathology. He meant nunchaks.
I'm guessing it simply means that it will allow for bluetooth headphones and you will never have to physically touch the ipod. All the controls will be on the earpiece.
The "bonjour" technology (which Jack mentions) is planned to include iPod, but to what extent has yet to be determined. It will not be implemented in the next generation of iPod.
Think "incremental" improvements. Apple is only shooting for what will get people to spend another $350+ before Christmas. Holding off on "bonjour-ing" the iPod will be a still future enticement to get people to open their wallets.
What about an interface like Nintendo's Wario Ware: Twisted interface? Tilt the device a little to go slowly down the menus, a lot to go quickly. With the tactile feedback Nintendo provides it very quickly becomes second nature. Might be a little tough while jogging though =D
A lot of people had concerns about a video iPod with on-screen scroll wheel. That the screen would get scratched and smudgy from using the virtual wheel.
Funny how all this would be solved if you do not actually have to touch the screen. If the virtual wheel would work well (including 'tapping' for a click) from about an inch away, this could actually be pretty cool. Look ma, no smudging!
I don't think the ipod will be wireless only. This would make them illegal to use on an airplane.
Didn't apple get a patent earlier this year with somthing about every pixel on the screen being a miny-camera or motion sensor or something? Out of context, Engadget's and most people's reaction was that it would probably never be used and if it was it woudl be for video converencing through computers without a true camera. Well, a simpler use would be to use this technology to be a more-sophisticated-than-usual screen that acts like a touch screen, but reacts not to touch but to detailed motion-sensing, so you never need to smudge the screen.
could this be related: http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/26/apple-patent-embeds-thousands-of-cameras-among-lcd-pixels/
???
Too easy. Its the MC Hammer version.
what i still don't understand is why the world thinks apple has a monopoly on innovation. who cares what their next thing is. my iAudio x5 plays video (i dont need to pay for content either, i can rip DVDs to it), has fm radio, voice recording/line recording, photos, even a BUILT IN usb jack to link in to a camera and download your pics, oh yeah, and a battery that doesnt crap out... i bought it OVER 8 months BEFORE the video ipod came out and everyone was jizzing themselves when apple did video like they were the only ones or the first ones to do it. i'm more interested in what Cowon, the iaudio company, will do next, since they obviously have the innovation to come up with stuff half a year before apple does and they barely have a US market. apple has taken the same idea and rehashed it... yes its insanely popular, but more like a cult and reinforced by free advertising via news outlets, but if the average joe didnt know and had to choose a mp3 player from a variety of players he would just as likely pick something else. apple does not have a monopoly on innovation, even though yes, they were the first. but you dont see everyone buying Ford do you?
"Too easy. Its the MC Hammer version."
No kidding. I can see the standard ipod commercials now, with "Can't Touch This" as the music.
It's marketing genius!
What you've also got to remember is that more often than not, these rumors are false.
In addition, these reports are hardly verifiable. Apparently the "none-touch" part was paraphrased, and some of the stuff might have accidently been changed in the translation. Seriously, how could that make the future of the iPod so conclusive?
New ipod khan be sent with wireless earpieces that podrian to have small integrated botoncitos to change the songs, to raise the volume and all demas. with not need to touch ipod, another possibility is that it includes to remotto control (remotto control) ace either they know to Apple this including this remotto command function in all its computers until mini mac or you have it because not new ipod.
september 12th
thats what i heard =P
if this new apple ipod is none-touch...how do i hold onto it? something none tangible and i rarely get along...
Gosh. None != Non. Or did they mean none of the users could touch it?
