Onkyo CR-D1 wireless bookshelf system with iPod dock
It's not everyday you see a wireless bookshelf system like this one from Onkyo. This mini HiFi features a 60W x 2 VL Digital amplifier with Wolfson DAC, FM tuner (no AM), CD player, and the DS-A1 iPod dock option to connect and control your iPod via the CR-D1's remote control. It also pumps your PC tunes wirelessly out the D-D1E 2-way speaker pair when coupled with the optional UWL-1 module and USB dongle. And if that's not enough, she brings plenty of other expansion capabilities with 1 x optical, 3 x RCA, and stereo mini-jack inputs as well as 1 x optical, 2 x RCA, subwoofer, and headphone outputs. The system will set you back ¥104,200 or about $907 when it drops July 15th in Japan.

No AM? This thing is worthless. Late night freaky AM talk shows are the only reason I'd buy anything like this. Oh well.

I'm confused.
Is this a wireless speakers or wireless remote or both?
If the speakers are wireless, then does it run off of battery? If so how long? Else I'm assuming there is a power cord for each speakers...???
Wireless USB dongle sounds pretty nifty if I understand how it works.
Wonder what the range is...

If this is anything like Onkyo's other gear, it will sound excellent, but still miss the features packed list by a margin. Although, it looks like they did a good job of adding relevenet features.

I expect no AM from a handheld, but not a high end bookshelf system. I wouldn't even consider purchasing a system without AM. As for wireless speakers, I'd have to hear them over an extended period of time to believe that they have good sound without occasional interference of some kind.

Pretty sure its the USB dongle that's wireless, if you follow the Onkyo link (although it's in jp) and scroll to near the bottom you can see the speakers appear hardwired.
I think it looks like a pretty awesome system.
