Today's wearable display: 22Moos VG-SD
All these wearable displays are starting to blend together, but 22Moo's new iPod glasses hope to capture some eyeballs with their impressively cheap VG-SD. The QVGA glasses supposedly have a 4-5 hour battery life, matching the resolution of your iPod and exceeding its expected video playback time; but like we said, the real draw here seems to be its price at $260 US. You just aren't seeing that kind of aggressive sticker that much right now on video glasses, but then again you're just not seeing people using them either. Why? Well, seriously, would you want to wear these things when you're out and about? If you would, well, stay tuned, we'll let you know when they launch.

Could u image me driving with that on the Highway? Or walking around with that on the street? I'd look ridiculous.

The only solid use I could see for this would be like a plane or greyhound where you are deliberately trying to block everything else out.

I could see these for decent use playing a portable gaming device with a TV out jack.
id like to see the screen resolution tho.

Isn't this around the same price point for myvu?
Engadget article that asks if over 250 isn't a bit expensive:

With an even longer battery life on the other article too!

D:
It says QVGA in the blurb, that is short for Quarter VGA, which means 320x240
I could see some uses for this, especially in europe, where train travelling is a lot more common and you usually don't have to worry about getting mugged on the train.
I'm still wiating fo higher resolution though. Even 800x600 would be good, at that size you could hook it up to small laptop, without the need to have the screen open.

Yes. I could. You'd be the guy being put on a gurney and into the ambulance. You'd also be the guy on the evening news.

I think for some business travelers it could work. What if I want to travel small and light. I take a WM5 smartphone, folding keyboard/mouse, and these. Using a basic external battery, I could easily work transcontinental no problem without lugging a laptop or having it shut down every three hours...
If I got off my butt and actually got all the stuff I just mentioned, I'd actually buy this, even at that price. However, I'm just too lazy.

i feel like these would hurt my eyes.

This is number what?.. Has anyone actually brought these?
Maybe in the future these will be a trend.

The reason these things don't sell is resolution. I tried them. Picture quality just isn't that good. It's not like watching a big screen TV. Or if it is, it's like watching a big screen TV with very, very mediocre resolution. Until they can up the pixel count, these things will never take off.

"Of course, people's definition of acceptable video quality will no doubt vary; the myvu just gives you iPod-native 320x240 resolution."
"You'll have to decide if the $270 price tag is worth it to rock it Geordi LaForge-style."

this thing is ugly, sorta looks like a pair of miniature legs and a shiny butt wrapped around your face.
Melissa Mazz @ Jun 18th 2006 7:46PM
hehehe...I like the comment about the uglyness....but seriously for $250 USD what a bargain ! I'll buy one and use it in bed to play my Xbox or watch a few TV episodes off my set top box.... might even take it on the 1.5 hour train ride and use it with my iPod Video .... let's see if I can scare a few people with my long blonde hair and "miniature legs and a shiny butt wrapped around" my face
