Creative reveals Zen V and V Plus flash-based DAPs
So it looks like Creative's made good with the "mystery MP3 player" they promised us in that rather uninspiring teaser campaign: meet the Zen V. Available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities, the V's smallish size and 1.5-inch, photo-capable OLED clearly indicate that Creative's got the slightly-smaller nano squarely in its sights, with the V Plus (offered in the same capacities) going for the knockout punch by throwing in video playback and an FM tuner in the usual hope that adding more and more features will somehow make iPod owners realize what iChimps they've been. Both models come in several combinations of black or white highlighted by either green, orange, or blue accents, feature a line-in jack for direct-from-disc recording, support PlaysForSure subscription services, and offer a claimed 15 hours of battery life before recharging becomes an issue. The V will be available in July for $120, $150, or $200, depending on capacity, while the V Plus will be coming in August and priced at $130, $170, and $230 for the 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB versions, respectively.Read- Zen V

Ugly
It sort of reminds me of spock's tricorder.
I like!
saw the CNET review..
James Kim couldn't hold the thing. YOU CAN'T HOLD IT AND PRESS THE BUTTON WITH YOUR THUMB!
And yet the 'fair and balanced' CNET gave it 8.3.
You CANNOT hold it with one hand and press the button.
Why? It's too freakin' short for a human hand.
Well done Creative.

You Itunes / Ipod users are such an insecure bunch. Flaming this product for being fat and ugly is rediculous. If you look at the pictures on creatives website next to the earbuds...this thing is really tiny. And there are plenty of folks that think the Nano is too thin and flimsy. I would gladly take twice the width (which is still freakin slim and easily fits into any pocket) for a more sturdy feeling product. Also it's shorter than the nano. I'm not sure why anyone would want to watch video on an MP3 player...but at $150 for the 2 gig...thats an awesome value. And this device works with the new WMP 11 and URGE music store. I've been using both along with subscription service. You folks with Itunes and Ipods don't know what your missing.
Just because your trapped into Itunes / Ipod doesn't mean you have to down on all other players and online music stores. Trading choice in the market and freedom to do what you want with your files for the cool fad of the day is really lame.
"It sort of reminds me of spock's tricorder."
"Captain, I'm getting readings... Shields are down, we only have a subscription service available"
"Cap'n, I canna do it, doon't have thee accessories!"
"Damnit Jim, I'm a Zen, not an iPod!"
Just got back from Frys and I got to play around with this, and I must say, you ipod zealots were wrong about the size of this thing. It's tiny! My phone (which I think is quite small already) is bigger than it. It has more features than the nano, and cost less! The only things I can see the nano beating this thing out on is its thickness, and that "click wheel" that you fans worship. Other than that this player put the smack down on the nano in my opinion. And I almost bought a nano too. SOLD!!!
