T-Mobile Sidekick 3 gets official

No shocker here: T-Mobile and Danger are officially unveiling the new Sidekick 3 today. (Note that it's not called the "Sidekick III". T-Mob has requested that it only be written as "Sidekick 3".) The specs are no surprise, either, since they've been rumbling around for weeks now, but we'll run down the official details for ya:
- Size: 130 x 59 x 21.8mm
- Weight: 6.7 ounces
- 240 x 160 pixel, 65,000 color display
- Trackball (!)
- Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Bluetooth 1.2 (limited to Hands-Free profile and vCard exchange)
- 1.3 megapixel digital camera w/LED flash
- miniSD memory card slot (supports up to 2GB cards)
- 64MB of SDRAM/64MB Flash memory
- Music player software
Word has it that T-Mobile will be opening up pre-orders to current Sidekick owners first, with the rest of us getting a crack at it sometime around July 10th.

okay today the sidekick III was avail.. for t-mobile customers and i got 2 one for me and my boyfriend... the prices without re newing your contract is 400.00 and and re newing with 2 yr contract is 300.00... and yes they want tthe money all up front when your next bill is due if u r a t mobile custom.. if was worth it!!!!!!!
sidekick 3, sounds like a no. ill stick w my sidekick II for now. i prefered sidekick I actually :( i miss it. so please make sidekick 3 more like sidekick I or sell more sidekick I!
The SideKick III looks so cool I just can't wait to get one the only problem is the cost I can just imagine how popular it is going to be amongst teens and adults in a year especially for the busness world. It's better than the first and second I would have to say good job t mobile. Hmmmm, I wonder if they would ever have a razor sidekick or a new sidekick 4 in three years oh well it could happen guess we wont know until it happens.

I just got the Sidekick 3 yesterday (6/29) and I love it. There are a few features that were taken from the Sidekick 2 that were not put back on the 3 but nothing too serious. The camera and mp3 support are nice to have. The mp3 player actually plays music through the speaker on the phone (just like the Verizon LG V-Cast.)
Instant messaging support has expanded to include AIM, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger. So far all have worked well for me but you still can't message "invisible" persons on AIM, a feature that was taken away upon an OTA (Over-the-Air) update on the sidekick 2.
The price breakdown is as follows:
$299.99 with a 2yr contract
$349.99 with a 1yr contract
$399.99 (I believe) prepaid
Overall it's a good phone but if you are skeptical I would still advise you wait until people like myself complain about the little things and hopefully get them taken care of.
Also, I cannot find any support for mp3 ringtones on the phone and the owner's manual says you can record up to 10 ringtones BUT T-Mobile has obviously disabled this ability.
Will all the ups and downs on this phone it's OK to be on the edge with a purchase or lack thereof, but I'm very happy with my decision.

well i ordered mine the 28th, got it in 2 days...so far i love it...the mps player is amazing..i threw in a 2 gig minisd card and now i dont need to carry an ipod with me as well as my phone. the new keyboard is a hundred times better for typing. the stero headphones with the microphone are great for listening to the mp3 player...while the music is playing if you get a call the music stops and the call comes through the headphones, hang up and the music fades back in.
only things i dont like are the volumn for the ring is no where near as loud as my sidekick 2, and there is no alarm! hopefully that will be taken care of once there is new apps available.
hey, i'm still debating whether or not i should get the sidekick 3, please help!! but for starters does all of the organizer and address book information get transferred to the sk3? like the notes, calendar events, to-do list and that stuff?
i'm debating whether or not i should get the sidekick 3, can anyone give me some KEY pros and cons (im an sidekick 2 user so by all means feel free to compare it to the sk II)? and i'm also wondering if like the information from the addressbook, to-do lists, notes and calendars will carry over/ transfer to the sidekick 3 once you put the sim into the device. will it? help!!!!
I just bought one of these on ebay but I can't unlock it. How can I get it unlocked? Do I call Tmob, danger?
I'm really really sad cuz i was hoping that @ least this phone was gonna be unlocked and able to be use on any network....i hope by nxt month, someone is gonna unlock it...i liv in Africa and i have been hoping 4 a sidekick 3 since beginning this year..always on phonescoop...2 be finally let down...
Been supporting Sidekick since the b/w model. Later
upgraded to SK Color, SK2 and picked up SK3 this afternoon.
Good: old chargers (ac and car) from previous models still work. old case from SK2 still works too!
Bad: though they advertise that it can support up to 8 additional POP accounts, I couldn't get past the
existing 3 that I already had from the SK2. headset jack was choppy and volume using bluetooth headset was extremely low even though it was already maxed out. also, old downloads (apps, games and ringtones) from SK2 don't transfer over to SK3. you have to download them over again, that is, if it's still available.
Ugly: unit might be defective and I now have to "wait" in line with the general public tomorrow at the store
where I bought it from. also, the included vinyl "calculator" case is terrible... probably leftover stock from the SK2.
so you work at danger??? well can u answer if i bought a sidekick 3 off ebay, called danger inc. asked for a code to unlock it for my cingular sim it would work for phone and sms correct?
hi, i have order sidekick 2 from Australia. and i have try to put in a sim card but its doesnt work. so can yous try to unlock it for me. cuz i buy this at ebay. the imei number is 010298000959021.cheers.
So Far T-Mobile cant even ship this SK3 I ordered it the 10th paid extra for overnight got confirmed that it would be delivered Tuesday and now nothin but stories everytime I call TMOB. Tried to cancel and was told I had to wait for the phone they cant ship me and send it back before I can cancel T-Mobile SUX they can eat a D***
Ok does anyone know if you would recommend traveling to the UK with the sidekick 3? I was interested in tryin to find an unlocked phone since im able to use it over there but now knowing that is impossible I'm not sure if I want to use the T-mobile international service while I'm over there?? I'll be there for three months so I was going to use an unlocked phone and get a UK sim card over there. What would you suggest??
The Sidekick 2 had a lot more animal ringtones to download. Is there a way to get ringtones like, Mountain Lion, Tiger, Lion for the Sidekick 3??

I can't believe how limited bluetooth is. I should have researched more before I bought the SK III. The most important feature of bluetooth is being able to share a LAN with a laptop. Why would something like that be disabled??
I just received a T-mobile from a friend who bought it from U.S.A. but it was asking for a special code when I insert sim card in Ethiopia where I live. Can you help me by providing me with the special code?
