I have had two shaft drive bikes for hte past 6-7 years, and combined I have covered ~10,000miles on them. They are no match for my race bike in terms of efficiency or weight, but for a bike I can hop on and ride any time of the day/night or year it's hard to beat. (they are fitted with decent mud guards and dynamo lights also).
