Samsung's Ultra Edition 9.9, 12.9, 6.9: World's slimmest cellphones launched
Get ready Guinness 'cause Samsung just launched an entire series of "World's slimmest" handsets. Sure, we've seen the D830 clam, X820 candybar, and FCC approved D900 slider before, only now they've been turned-out onto that mean global scene official, spec'd, and rebadged with their ultra-slim, millimeter measurements right in the name: the Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830), 12.9 (D900), and 6.9 (X820) pictured left-to-right. The UE 9.9 brings tri-band (900/1800/1900MHz) GPRS/EDGE, a 2 megapixel cam with auto-focus and flash, a 2.3-inch 240x320 262k TFT main display (0.8-inch 92x16 grayscale external), Bluetooth, 80MB embedded memory with MicroSD expansion, MP3/AAC media player, and even an MPEG4 recorder with TV-out jack slammed into this world's slimmest flip. The UE 6.9 brings pretty much the same network coverage, cam, Bluetooth, media capabilities, and on-board memory as the 9.9 but had to forgo the microSD card and flash while dropping down to a 1.9-inch 176x220 262k TFT display in order to slip into that world's slimmest, 6.9-mm, 2.33-ounce dress. The relatively plump UE 12.9 takes advantage of all that, uh, roominess to squeeze in quad-band GPRS/EDGE, a 3.13 megapixel shooter, 2.1-inch 240x320 262k TFT, that good media lovin' we've already seen, Bluetooth with A2DP stereo audio support, and 80MB with microsSD expansion. Yeah, that makes it the world's slimmest slider, er, with 3 megapixel camera -- kind of a stretch, but that's how Sammy likes to roll. They didn't bother with drop dates, countries, or prices but the fact that the press release hit their English site gives us hope for this Samsung triptych to drop in the US sometime this year.

6.9 for me!
Wow.. TV out?? Cant say I ever expected a celphone to have that! But as for the 6.9 the tiny screen is a bit of a put-off. Nice feature set on all these tho but wonder how bad the telcos will cripple them when they come out here.
no wifi?
The 6.9 is already out in Russia and goes for about $450 USD. I'm trying to decide between the 12.9 and the 6.9. Price will probably do it for me, heh.
I reaaaaaaaaally like that 12.9. It will make the perfect replacement for my Sony Ericsson 710a, which has been - by far - the best cell phone I've ever used in every category.
That 12.9 looks AMAZING though. All of them do. Go Samsung!
Having used the 12.9(D900) at CTIS, I can truly say that it will be one of the best phones US consumers will get their hands on in along time. The camera is really superior to your typical point and shoot disposibles and it's a lot slimmer than you can really imagine, and the screen is incredible. As a Motorola V3i owner, I can honestly say that it really was the only phone that I would have gladly ditched my V3i for at the show. Some phones did TV, some had 10 MP cameras, some were good at playing music ..etc, but the D900 had the best mix of all the features and it's quite stylish; that's comming from someone that isn't a big fan of sliders.
I kind of like the 12.9. I wonder if it supports push? (I'm new to such things and need to get a smartphone of pocket pc, but dont really care about them for anything other than push aspects of getting email/info).
I've got an A900 right now and I love it. But the one thing I wish it had was a slightly better camera and a microSD card slot. I'm fine with the 1.3 megapixel resolution the A900 produces, but the quality of the pictures are pretty bad. I don't know if it's just a slow shutter or what but the colors are all washed out and the images are typically blurry to some extent. So I hope these camera phones improve on actual quality rather then just up the resolution.
I guess for me the 9.9 would be the best choice as a replacement to the A900.
"I've got an A900 right now and I love it. But the one thing I wish it had was a slightly better camera and a microSD card slot"
exactly the same boat here...
but these are GSM / GPRS so they're not coming to Sprint, as far as i can tell. Maybe 2 years later they'll make a larger, crappier version for CDMA. :
i'd like the slider... i dont care that it's the biggest. maybe the flip, but i'm not a fan of the tiny grey outside screens.
Come on, Samsung, bring this shit to sprint!
The silder at 3oz is pretty friggin sweet. I wish/hope/pray that Samsung will make a CDMA version for Sprint. Or redo their network and make it GSM. haha yeah right.
And who needs wifi when you have EDGE/GPRS?
Will it be on Cingular or Tmobile?
Cingular is getting kicked in the face if they pass up the D900!
HOT!
This just in Yuppicom releases the world's thinnest cell phone. Some of the features you ask?! Dual Quad Band, 40GB memory, mp3 player with 10 band graphic equalizer, and more!
How thin you ask?! It's so thin you can't even see it. How do I know it's there?! I just assumed.
I was going to get a t809, but now I'm definitely going to wait for the 12.9. All they need is JSR-82 support (salling clicker compatibility) to be perfect.
According to this, they do:

search for JSR
Agree with Whosawhatsis. The 12.9 is the *perfect* replacement for the t809. Since Cingular just got the d807, T-Mobile is in need of a new flagship phone.
I am so in love with Samsung mobile phones, as i think that they make just the sexiest looking phones out there, boy do they beat the likes of Nokia hands down
Here are some of the specs for the 12.9
GSM / GPRS (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz) + EDGE
Camera 3.13 Megapixel Camera
Display 2.1” 240x320 262K Color TFT
Features Video Recording & Messaging (MPEG4/MP3
Bluetooth® / USB / PictBridge
Document Viewer / TV-output
Memory 80MB embedded, External memory (microSD)
Size 103.5 x 51 x 12.9 mm
Weight 85g
I think this is a good move by Samsung. Competing with the slim phones like the Moto V3. They will definitly sell some of these.
I think i will go for the 12.9 slider one, i cant find a price though.
Can someone help me out.
Can anybody give me advise on which one is better, SE K800 or 12.9?
TA
Can anybody advise me which one has better value, SE K800 or Samsung 12.9??
