iRiver's T30 goes 2GB
Like the T10 and U10-cum-Clix before it, the latest iRiver flash player to get the 2GB makeover is the T30. It's as chunky and unshapely as ever, but damned if they didn't double the memory -- for iRiver Japan, anyway. Barring the addition of an FM tuner, it's more of the same as far as we know and it'll set you back ¥12,980 (about $110 US). Guess it's only a matter of time then before it strikes these Yankee shores then, eh?

Bad design but nice colours :)

If this iRiver product has the user interface, controls and earbud rig of it's last, it's a deadbang loser... iRiver's design group leads the field in non-intuitive MP3 player controls and induced consumer frustration.

this is almost like the RCA lyra 20gb which came out about 4 years ago. Almost the exact design :-/

#2, the interface is still bad, but nowhere near as horrific as it used to be.
That said, the only real reason to choose this particular player is for its extremely high-quality voice recording...the best available in such a compact form factor.
If you want to keep a tiny recorder running in your shirt pocket without anyone noticing, this is the one.

There are consumers out the who prefer AA/AAA-battery powered players (and I am one of them), so if only one manufactor continues to design at least one new model in this niche, each year, then they have a assured a small but faithful customergroup. The IFP/T40 user interface is by the way superb. I can navigate it very easy and intuitively.

The player looks nice! And as for the interface design I think most peeps are use to SEEING the buttons on the front, but there is nothing wrong with this design, something refreshing to see for a change!

The 1 GB version of this T30 was my 3rd iRiver player.
Smaller than my previous iFP-890, but a pretty poor offering compared to the market.
1) Unless you buy from Asia - you don't get the FM radio.
2) The claimed voice recorder is absolutely useless, which is in sharp contrast to its predecessor iFP range which is great for voice recording.
So take away these two functions (that distinguish it from the iPod) and you are left with a very mediocre offering.
Unfortunately the 2GB version, appears not to have solved these problems...

JCA, why don't we stop using ALL words which have some kind of sexual meaning/relation then?
Do you want to force all people named "Dick" to change their name too? Let's start a petition?

Well, I bought the 1GB version as my first mp3: couldn't be happier. I love how extensive the menus are. After a few days of use, I can find whatever controls I need quite easily. If your one of those people crying about not being able to navigate the menus, I pity you.
Great design, awesome sound, great recording and it uses AAAs: pwnzor'd x2 because mine was refurbished at $61 shipped

This is the PERFECT MP3 player for MY needs.
I use the 512MB version to record the 5+ hour long Howard Stern Show every morning since i cant listen live on satellite.
I bought the Sirius Stiletto thinking i would be able to listen live but the reception where i work isn't good. Then i thought to leave the Stiletto in my car recording as i normally did but a combo of poor battery life, large/heavy frame and unreliable recordings forced me back to the good old RELIABLE T-30.
I have to say that this is the BEST MP3 player with in-line recording because of the low price, light weight and ability to effectively skip through those long commercial breaks.
Bravo IRiver
