SLA 5520 Streamium adapter on the cheap
If you've been looking for a no-frills wireless Streamium adapter that won't wake you up in the morning, Philips is dropping their new SLA 5520 that might just do the trick. There's only a small two-toned screen, and no video support or extra functionality other than PlaysForSure. Still, for $99 this unit should mean some low-cost Streamium proliferation for people with an existing investment in Streamium, or who have been waiting on the wireless music streaming sidelines.

Stylistically, it really is a thing of a beauty.

If this is the same Philips stand alone product that I went through 8 of last year before I GAVE up then this is a hunk of junk!
It crashed, died, endless looped, slowed down and on a small occasion worked.

Saw this at CES - the display has 4 lines of text and it comes with a basic IR remote. Nothing very special ...

Well what do you want, Bill for $99.00 MSRP? I wonder what you losers will say if this was Apple.
I vote for the comments to stay off. permanently.

Why are they dropping it before they've even shipped it?
Why do you keep posting links to products that are being end-of-lifed?

funny - screen looks _exactly_ like NOXON. Could it be?! no ...

Good observation about the Noxon. Both devices were displayed in BridgeCo's (a small semiconductor design house) booth at CES 2006. The Noxon offers a USB interface (memory sticks and mp3 players) and the Philips device offers some additional internet streaming service options.

They can't possibly be marketing this at people with existing Streamium hardware - we are the only ones that know that none of the Streamium products actually work!
