Intel launches Core Duo T2700 2.33GHz processor
Until now if you wanted to go Yonah and get your Core Duo on, your options were capped at 2.16GHz -- just ask any MacBook (Pro) owner. Well, the wait for something a shred faster is no more, as Intel's now officially pimping, however quietly, their Core Duo T2700, the 2.33GHz version of their dual core mobile-optimized chip, which will sell for more than $600 in bulk. Nobody ever said it was cheap living at the top of the computing performance food-chain, now did they?

Take a 1.6 GHz one and clock it to 2.3, I'm sure it's possible. or atleast a 2.16GHz to around 2.3 eh? I might try this when my core duo notebook gets to me.
Is a slightly higher clock speed really worth the $300+ extra?
I have seen the difference between a 1.6GHz Core duo and a 2.16GHz one, It really is quite huge, nearly twice as efficient, but twice the price...

That would depend on whether or not you want to sacrifice more battery life. This processor is designed for mobiles and low power consumption so I would assume that overclocking would decrease battery life since it requires more power. At least, this is the scenario for my PDA.
But no I don't really think it's worth the extra money right now.

Honestly, I don't think it is worth that much money. Think about this way. By the time you drop $600 on this baby..Core Due 2 will be out in about 2 months? So if I am to choose, Core Due 2 is definitely the buy.

It's quite exciting at first, then again there is that Dual Core 2 coming out so why rush when all you get is a speed increase just wait around for Dual Core 2 to come out.

Man this logo sucks. They should seriously fire their graphic design artist.
