Sony's Microvault Tiny USB drive for the ladies
We're still not sure why you'd want to buy a USB thumb drive so small that you'll probably lose it within the first week, but that hasn't stopped companies like Pretec, Lexar, OCZ, and PQI -- and now Sony -- from battling it out until one of them finally achieves the holy grail of a completely invisible storage solution. Well even though they may not be the smallest drives around, Sony's new 1.5-gram Microvault Tiny line is looking to stand out from the crowd by sporting "fashionable" cases for appealing to the female demographic -- although it's not clear how many women will be into outdated designs that resemble 20th Century iMacs. Only available in South Korea for now, the drives range in capacity from 256MB ($30) to 2GB ($124), and in one of the strangest promotions we've ever seen, actually come with a bottle of matching nail polish as a free gift-- so even if you lose the drive, you can still look down at your hands and reminisce about all the good times you and your Tiny had reading and writing data together.
Update: Some eagle-eyed readers have already spotted these devices Stateside at Target, so scratch that part about exclusive South Korean availability.

For the ladies?
Oh yeah, hence the moisture protection and "string". Why oh why, that area is already concealing her cocaine.
These are already on sale at Target. Don't know what you mean about 'only in Korea.'
Actually I'm pretty sure I saw this in Target yesterday. The thing I saw was about this size, made by sony, and had a weird colored band that came with it that looks just like the ones pictures. The one I looked at was 256mb
Its Retro, Engadget. Thats the fashion.
Get down with the kids already.
I have a 512mb version, won't work. sent back to sony already!
I confirm that these little drives may be purchased from Staples. I saw the 512MB version (in pink) yesterday.
These look like cell phone charms, so if you hang it on your cell phone you probably won't lose it.
They look like electroplankton! Is Sony using concepts from another rival company? ;-)
Yea...definitely have the 256, 512, and 1 gb in stock at the staples i work with. But there's no spot for em so a lot of staples will probably have them in the back for now...
Have them at work in the UK - 1GB = £80
we have them at staples in boise idaho. wish for a black silver clear variant. but whatever.
Saw them at Staples in San Diego today. The salesman guy tried to get me to buy one, even though I wasn't even looking at thumb drives. Silly salesmen...
They are available at MISCO in the UK for £9.99 for the 256Mb up to £25.99 for the 2Gb version (all ex. VAT). I am looking at the Misco catalogue as we speak.
Although the website seems to be priced a bit higher at £44.99 for the 2Gb version.
Guy's just got mine at Sony Store.com at 8GB for 39and change!. Why you ask?. Seem's the Sony BDP-X1 Blu-Ray player needs one to download soft ware via internet for the player to work right!. Had a hell of a time finding one. Even Best-Buy had'nt heard of them yet here in Texas. Whew!!!
