SUBX1 Universal Sirius Boombox
Need a boombox to take your satellite jams wherever you're at in the house? Want to throw back to the 80s and hoist it up on your shoulder? Whichever camp you're in, Sirius has a new boombox looming that reportedly supports the entire array of Sportster units; according to Orbitcast, the SUBX1 Universal Sirius Boombox even supports the Sportster 4, Streamer 3, and any future receivers, and has the usual built-in amp, stereo speakers, and aux input to connect your other DAP of choice. The SUBX1's actual release date is still up in the air, but preliminary estimations indicate a $359.99 pricetag on the boombox / Sportster 4 combo kit. Extract the Sportster 4 and we'll probably see the box going solo for around $190.

Universal boombox, eh? Sirius has taken the lead with sub growth and market share by ruling with better content, maybe they can catch up to XM soon in terms of the technology offered. Methinks they will need to do better than this, but they will get there.

Why is this on engadget? Satellite radio boomboxes have been out for YEARS. This is about as exciting as a 16mb flashdrive.

Cool I guess. I am a sirius "member" and this is kind of cool... They need some new players and something portable thats not $300+ bucks.

Yes Engadget, how could you do us such a disservice as to show us the latest technology stuff?
I mean, what were you thinking?
Brian, they also show us stories about the latest flash drives too, even if they aren't the biggest.
It's kinda what goes on here, mmmkay?

wow, does this guy Keith L. actually think we have alarm clock radios, car stereos, music ringtones, walkmen to ipod to mp3 players in our ears at the gym, walking, subway, office, at a football game, standing in line, elevator music, grocery store music, music in retail outlets, music in movies during the credits and the whole of the film, songs that get stuck in our head, and playing music when I bang chicks because we don't like music?? Yeah, who would think they couuld market such a thing as a universal sat boombox???? I don't know about you Keith L., but reading a book and walking sound like things you do past the age of 60. I'm not in that sedentary stage of life yet, and hope to never be that way either.

Do you have any kids? My 18 and 26 y/o., and their friends, still watch MTV.

Those prices are from a site called GoPremco, which are in Canadian Dollars. So it'll be around $99 USD.
