Samsung packs Blu-ray into MagicStation MV55 desktop
Sure, Blu-ray burners aren't really the freshest thing on the block anymore -- these days we're getting all prepped for holographic storage to drop -- but there's still a bit of "Magic" left in the idea of burning 50GB of data to a disc. Samsung captures the feel with their new MagicStation MV55 desktop, featuring a SH-B022 Blu-ray drive and not a whole lot else. However, the 3.2GHz Pentium D940 and 256MB GeForce 7600GT should be plenty for a little bit of web browsing or Minesweeper while you're filling those discs with all sorts of good stuff.

MagicStation?

Since when did a 3.2 GHZ Pentium D and a GeForce 7600 become nothing else? Or does every PC have to have octuple-core CPUs and quad-video cards and 1 TB of DDR5 memory to be considered good nowadays?
...I'm too cynical for my own good.

We've finally reached the technological standpoint where things are outdated before being released into the mainstream market.

Hmmm. I'll be sure to tell Best Buy that... when they actually start stocking Blu-ray computers on the shelves.

@ NickJames
Sure, those specs are impressive, but not news worthy, I guess.

Nick James, if you have a bluray player you're (correct word yay!!!!) gonna want a 1920*1200 monitor to watch it at native res, if you have a WUXGA monitor chances are an nvidia 7600GT isn't going to let you play battlefield 2 at native res.
also as conroe CPU's are around the corner, any savings the manufacture gets for using a pentium D due to the price cuts isn't going to be passed onto you, so your overpaying, a LOT!!!

This article makes me sad. These are components I WISH I had in my computer and yet they're being treated like old parts. *sigh*

"you're (correct word yay!!!!)" ... "so your overpaying"

Cheer up.... "old parts" become inexpensive parts and you may soon fulfill that wish of yours.

Does this mean that DR is finally going mainstream? HDDVD and BR war is really starting?
